Henry Cavill’s ‘The Witcher’ Reveals Season 3 Premiere Title

Henry Cavill’s The Witcher is headed to the Shaerrawedd ruins.

Entertainment Weekly has revealed the official title for the season three premiere of The Witcher, which sees Henry Cavill reprising his role as Geralt of Rivia for the final time ahead of his exit from the Netflix series. The episode is titled “Shaerrawedd,” a reference to an iconic location from the Witcher books, which is making its live-action debut in season three.

“This set is one of the biggest we ever built,” The Witcher showrunner Lauren Hissrich told EW. “It was an interior-exterior set. Every shot is visual effects. Obviously there’s a fight happening, but more than that, it is this big, open space. There are blue screens everywhere, so we are just now putting the final touches on it. Episode 1’s been done for ages, but it’s taken that long to get this setting right. I think it’s really important for the story.”

Stephen Surjik is directing the Witcher season three premiere, working from a script by Mike Ostrowski. Surjik worked on the season two episodes “A Grain of Truth” and “Kaer Morhen” while Ostrowski is an executive producer on the series with two writing credits on “Before a Fall” and “Voleth Meir.” Season three wrapped production this past September.

The third season of The Witcher is currently scheduled to hit Netflix in Summer 2023. The series has already been renewed for a fourth season, with Henry Cavill being replaced by Australian actor Liam Hemsworth, best known for his work in the Hunger Games series and the Independence Day sequel.

The first two seasons of The Witcher are currently available to stream on Netlfix. Based on the series of books by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski and developed for television by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, The Witcher also stars Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan and Joey Batey.
