Hugh Grant’s surprise family discovery on Love Actually set: ‘Apparently you’re my uncle’

Relation: Cousins.

Ashley Tisdale and Austin Butler have been best friends for years, and now they’re something more – 10th cousins once removed.

The High School Musical alum discovered in a new episode of Ancestry’s 2 Lies and a Leaf that she and her sister, Jennifer Tisdale, have been related to the 31-year-old Elvis star this whole time.

“I think my reaction on-camera says it all … I couldn’t believe it, and I started to get emotional,” Tisdale, 37, told Us Weekly after the episode aired on Tuesday.

“We’ve had an immediate connection since we met, and we’ve been close friends for years. We even joked about being fraternal twins,” she continued.

Tisdale said she texted Butler, who was her co-star in Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure, as soon as she made the discovery, and he replied “right away” with: “NO F–KING WAY!”

Butler, according to Tisdale, was “just as shocked” by the revelation as she was.

”To know this whole time that we’re actually cousins – it’s just so wild,” she said.

The duo’s common ancestor is Englishman Richard Scruggs, who died in 1669.
