Jennifer Lopez on Your Jokes About the Grammys: “Over It.”

[ad_1]

In what may go down as the definitive inquiry into the phenomenon of Ben Affleck, New York magazine’s Alison Willmore argues that though he is an internationally known movie star, Affleck has never had a definitive on-screen role. He’s known (and loved) for being Ben Affleck, and a big selling point for us in the audience is the endless cascade of frank paparazzi photos. If he’s carrying an enormous order from Dunkin’ Donuts, he’s happy; if he’s wrapped in a towel staring into the infinity of the Atlantic Ocean, he’s sad

Those of us who enjoy Affleck’s not-exactly-camera-ready (but, in a way, so camera-ready) moments were given plenty to chew on at the Grammy Awards last week. During the broadcast, there were times in which it did, perhaps, seem as if the Argo director wished he were anywhere else in the galaxy. Furthermore, it appeared as if the newlyweds got into a minor back-and-forth at one moment. (A professional lip-reader said that Jen told Ben to “look more friendly.”)

A Grammy seat-filler, however, reported that the Bennifer bond is as strong as ever, with lots of physical affection. Yet another seat-filler said that the couple was well-aware they were “going viral” thanks to Ben’s spaced-out visage. Apparently Lopez showed Affleck her phone with a chuckle, and he said something to the tune of “Oh, God, this again.”

Amusing!

But now, days later, the memes keep coming, and, of course, some out there are using it to look for evidence of cracks in the foundation of the Bennifer romance. Not cool! According to Page Six, a well-placed source says that Lopez is well aware of the jokes, and is “over it.”

Whether “over it” means she couldn’t care any less, or “over it” means she is steamed at her husband’s behavior is a little less clear. “She knows how much Ben hates awards shows and was over it the very next day,” the source said. This same person added “Might we suggest for the next awards show she bring her stylist or sister with her? Less headaches.”

To which we say two things: One, “fewer headaches,” and, two, “heck no! Affleck grimacing in public is the tastiest meat in our cultural stew. Don’t take this from us.”

The Bennifer camp had already floated that Affleck was simply “tired,” and this is undoubtedly true. The man is finalizing post-production of his latest picture, Air, in which he also co-stars as Nike founder Phil Knight. (Matt Damon is the lead as marketing genius Sonny Vaccaro, and Viola Davis plays Deloris Jordan, Michael Jordan’s mother. Yes, the movie is about convincing the young Chicago Bulls star to sign with the upstart shoe company instead of one of the major two brands at the time, Converse or Adidas.)

When the trailer dropped this week, J.Lo put it up on her Instagram (with 245 million followers) highlighting a shot of Affleck looking particularly grumpy. “My Husband’s Happy Face,” she wrote, playing the online chatter like a violin.
