Julia Roberts found a very unusual way to honor her longtime co-star George Clooney at the 45th annual Kennedy Center Honors.

The actor attended the Washington, DC event held where Clooney’s life and work was being celebrated on Sunday night wearing a custom black taffeta gown by Moschino covered in a print of tiny, framed portraits of the ER star taken over the course of his long career. Roberts’s stylist Elizabeth Stewart shared a photo on Instagram of her client in the look from the back showing off the full range of Clooney imagery printed across the gown’s skirt and thanking the brand’s creative director Jeremy Scott for helping bring this concept to life with the hashtag “#juliaframedgeorge.” Stewart completed the actor’s look for the evening with a black cropped blazer, also by Moschino, and hoop earrings by Chopard.

Roberts and Clooney have played love interests numerous times over the course of their 20-year-long friendship, starring opposite one another in films such as Ocean’s Eleven, Ocean’s Twelve, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Money Monster, and most recently, Ticket to Paradise. During an interview promoting that film, the pair were asked why they never ended up dating despite their on-screen chemistry to which Roberts replied, “I don’t think we needed to state it!” Clooney elaborated on why they never felt the need to take their relationship to “a different level,” explaining, “Julia was always in a relationship, or I was in a relationship. And we were fast friends right away. So it was nothing, but it’s been nothing but fun for us. So, I don’t think that was ever really a thing.”

Clooney wasn’t the only star being celebrated at the Kennedy Center this weekend, the event also honored Amy Grant, Gladys Knight, composer-conductor Tania León, and U2. The Up in the Air star told ABC News of receiving this recognition, “Growing up in a small town in Kentucky I could never have imagined that someday I’d be the one sitting in the balcony at the Kennedy Center Honors. To be mentioned in the same breath with the rest of these incredible artists is an honor. This is a genuinely exciting surprise for the whole Clooney family.” The actor walked the red carpet with his wife of eight years, Amal Clooney, and his parents Nick and Nina.
