Latest ‘Shazam: Fury of the Gods’ TV Spot Reveals Major DC Cameo

A new television spot for the upcoming Shazam: Fury of the Gods aired during Friday’s WWE Smackdown, revealing a major DC Cameo.

The spot reveals actress Gal Gadot as Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman! Yes, the rumors are indeed true. Check out the embed below.

“Stick to saving the world kid,” Diana tells Shazam.

While the DC Universe is expected to reboot certain elements of the SnyderVerse saga, James Gunn and Peter Safran have revealed that Gal Gadot could return to the role of Wonder Woman at some point in the future. According to the two executives, Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck are so far the only Justice League actors from the Snyder-Verse era who are no longer members of the DC Universe.

“We’ve talked to Gal. She’s up for doing stuff,” Gunn said during the DC Studios press event. “We’re not sure what we’re going to do with that. All I can tell you really right now really is just Henry [Cavill] and Ben [Affleck] are not a part of this universe.”

Wonder Woman has been a major box-office draw for DC. Her 2017 film, directed by Patty Jenkins, earned more than $820 million worldwide and received critical acclaim for its portrayal of the DC Comics character, played by Gal Gadot. A sequel, titled Wonder Woman 1984, was released in 2020, but failed to reach the same heights as its predecessor due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The future of the DC Universe

James Gunn and Peter Safran told journalists that their vision for the DC Universe includes locked scripts, wiggle room and a unified storyline across film, teleivsion, animation and video game projects. The two explained that the DC Universe could bring back elements from previous DC regimes, meaning that their eight-to-year plan is not a full reboot.

Shazam! Fury of the GodsThe FlashBlue Beetle and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom are currently in various stages of post-production at Warner Bros. Discovery, with all four DC Universe movies slated to hit theaters in 2023. Will the characters from those movies make appearances in the new DCU? Only Gunn and Safran know.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is set to be released in theaters a week from today on Friday, March 17.
