Michael Douglas Reiterates His Extremely NSFW Golf Bet With Catherine Zeta-Jones

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones have found a way to make the usually staid sport of golf much, much riskier.

In a new Q&A with The Guardian, the Wall Street star was asked if his wife of 22 years still makes him take his trousers off “as a forfeit if she beats you at golf.” Douglas replied that their risqué bet is still standing, but clarified, “The rules are I have to whip it out if I don’t hit it past the ladies’ tees, which I manage most of the time.” However, he added, “there have been times when we’re playing alone, and [I] have to give her a little show because we are competitive.”

Douglas also noted that this rule is enforced “only when I play with my wife,” no one else.

This isn’t the first time the couple has revealed that they add a certain exhibitionist element to the sport. Back in January 2016 during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Zeta-Jones was the first to reveal that her husband has had to flash her more than a few times for being the lesser golf player. The actor explained that she can “kick his ass” in golf, so as the “better” player between the two of them, “We have a bet that if he duffs a shot and can’t get his ball over the ladies’ tee, he has to take his pants off on the course…expose himself in some way.” But while Douglas may only perform the challenge in front of his wife, Zeta-Jones admitted that this is a bet she’s willing to make with “any man” she completes against. She added with a laugh, “There has been an issue with paparazzi, so I make him go into the bushes and drop his pants. A deal is a deal.”

Douglas and Zeta-Jones have been married since November 2000 and are parents to two children, a 22-year old son Dylan and 19-year-old daughter Carys. Douglas also has another son, 44-year-old Cameron, from his previous marriage to Diandra Luker. Despite the couple’s 25-year age difference, Zeta-Jones said she never questioned whether or not their relationship would work, telling the Wall Street Journal in April 2021, “The constant is love, is respect. We’ve never, ever lost our sense of humor, and we enjoy each other’s company.” While they briefly separated in 2013, the pair decided to work things out and remain together. Afterwards, Douglas described the temporary split in an interview with the Daily Mail as just “a little bump in the road,” adding, “We worked things out—if both people want to work something out and make it better, you can do it.”
