10 Shows About The Demonic & Supernatural Available On Netflix

For fans of supernatural shows on Netflix, there is a lot to choose from. Not only is there a show named after the phenomenon, but there are several options with both Netflix originals and shows licensed from other networks, many airing their entire run on the streaming giant. These also run the gamut of fantasy, from action-packed shoot-em-up demon hunters to more quirky drama and horror shows, meaning that the streaming giant has something for everyone. The shows also feature newer efforts still ongoing and longer series that have finished and remain available for new fans to binge from start to finish.


This is also a good time to jump into a new show, with the long-running Supernatural wrapping up its series after 15 seasons on The CW. Every season of that is on Netflix, and there is a good chance its spin-off series The Winchesters will also arrive on the streaming service sooner rather than later. Outside of that, Netflix subscribers can find all sorts of monsters, demons, and ghouls on Netflix, with some of the best supernatural shows on streaming.

Wednesday (2022- )

Tom Burton brought Wednesday Addams back in 2022, and it became one of the best supernatural shows on Netflix. The man who directed the Addams Family movies made a great casting choice in Jenna Ortega as Wednesday and even had his original Wednesday, Christina Ricci, back for a special role in the series. The first season saw Wednesday attempt to solve a murder spree while attending a school for the supernatural and Netflix is bringing Wednesday back for a second season. There are also rumors of spinoff series and Netflix creating an Addams Family shared universe.

The Witcher (2019- )

The Witcher arrived in 2019 and became one of the most successful supernatural shows on Netflix. Based on the books and video games about a demon hunter named Geralt of Rivia, the series became one of the most-watched Netflix originals of all time. However, the wheels might be falling off somewhat for the series. After the third season, star Henry Cavill will leave the lead role, replaced by Liam Hemsworth. Whether the show maintains its popularity without it’s leading man remains to be seen. There were also two Witcher spinoffs, one animated, as the franchise rolls on.

Charmed (2018-2022)

Charmed got a reboot in 2019, with a new cast of actresses playing the Charmed Ones. The young women discover they have magical powers after their mother’s tragic death. Like the original series, this supernatural show on Netflix has the sisters learn they are witches who have to protect the world from demons and the supernatural, while also learning to deal with their own lives. One thing that the reboot, which originally aired on The CW, has going for it is that it is much more diverse than the original, with three women of color in the lead roles, and for its LGBTQ+ representation.

Warrior Nun (2020-2022)

Netflix released a new original series in 2020 titled Warrior Nun. The supernatural show on Netflix has an interesting twist on the demonic especially when it comes to secret orders and the inclusion of the Catholic Church. An orphaned girl wakes up from the dead with supernatural powers. She discovers that she was given a powerful weapon by a secret organization of the Catholic Church. The Order of Cruciform Sword is an ancient society of warrior nuns dedicated to eradicating demons from Earth. The show ended up lasting two seasons before Netflix canceled it, and fans started petitions to save the show to no avail.

The Haunting Of Hill House (2018)

The Haunting of Hill House debuted in 2018, loosely based on the 1959 Shirley Jackson novel of the same name. The show switches between the storyline of the past and that of the present day. In 1992, a family move into Hill House to renovate and resell. But complications force them to stay longer, and they start to experience paranormal phenomena. Flash forward to 26 years later, and the children and their father are forced back to confront their past trauma. One of the best supernatural shows on Netflix, the show led the way to a second season called The Haunting of Bly Manor, based on the work of Henry James.

The Order (2019-2020)

The Order is a teen supernatural show on Netflix that has elements of the demonic. A new college student has a hidden agenda for attending Belgrave University and seeks revenge against the secret Hermetic Order which he believes caused his mother’s death. The Order dabbles in rituals and sacrifices in order to use magic. The show deals with complicated love stories, betrayal, revenge, and the threat of the supernatural world and demons attacking people in the real world. Add in a secret society, and this show was an intriguing addition to the genre, although it only lasted for two seasons.

Lucifer (2016-2021)

Netflix picked up the supernatural series Lucifer, which featured Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) giving up his role as the King of Hell to run a piano bar in California. However, when a close friend dies, he helps an LAPD detective with the case. Over the seasons, the two develop a close relationship until she learns who he really is, and that is when things get really complicated. Fox canceled Lucifer after three seasons, but Netflix produced three more and allowed the show to end the way the creators hoped after six total seasons.

Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina (2018)

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was a reboot of the classic 1996 TV show, which itself was based on the Archie Comics series of the same name but is much grittier and darker than the original show, based more on the world from the comics. It deals with magic in a sinister way and even takes Sabrina Spellman (Kiernan Shipka) to Hell at one point. The series starts with Sabrina coming of age and making the decision to sign her name in the Book of the Beast and leave her human life behind. The show lasted for two seasons, split into four parts, and had 36 episodes.

Wynonna Earp (2016)

Wynonna Earp originally premiered on SyFy and is a Western supernatural show on Netflix based on the comic book series by Beau Smith. Wynonna is a descendant of Wyatt Earp and returns home to fulfill a long family destiny in the town of Purgatory. Aided by her family gun, Peacemaker, she is the only one who can send revenants or demons back to Hell. Revenants are reincarnated outlaws hellbent on staying and destroying the Ghost River Triangle where the town resides. Fans of action-packed series should certainly check it out.

Supernatural (2005)

Of all the supernatural shows on Netflix, there might not be a more popular one than Supernatural. It is the epitome of the supernatural and demonic genre, dealing with Heaven and Hell, angels and demons, Lucifer, and the paranormal. For 15 seasons, Sam and Dean Winchester battled angels and demons alike to save the Earth. In the end, they had to battle God himself, giving them the ultimate supernatural experience. Supernatural has ended, but all 15 seasons are on Netflix to binge and a spin-off launched in 2022 called The Winchesters, a prequel featuring the boys’ parents.
