6 Possibilities For Who Entered The Room In Criminal Minds’ Finale

[ad_1]

Warning: This article contains spoilers for the Criminals Minds: Evolution season 1 finale.

Criminal Minds: Evolution set up an epic season 1 finale cliffhanger in concealing who walked into the heavily guarded investigation room to meet with high profile serial killer Sicarius. The Paramount+ Criminal Minds revival brought back most of the Behavioral Analysis Unit, including Senior Agent David Rossi (Joe Mantegna), Unit Chief Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster), the integral Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness), and more, to contend with one of the most elusive killers the series has seen yet. Sicarius, known by principal alias Elias Voit, poses a significant threat to the BAU with his self-taught retainer of Covid-era murderers, but the government intel he holds as collateral makes him distinctly dangerous.

Elias Voit (Zach Gilford) indeed has his own set of skills that make him alone a force to be reckoned with, but a government secret known only as “Gold Star” and the overarching mystery Evolution establishes for season 2 suggests that Elias’ true advantage is in knowing more than he should about classified information. The Criminal Minds: Evolution season finale sees Voit apprehended for his heinous crimes, but the questions of how Voit intends to use his knowledge and who might be manipulated for leverage is cleverly left unanswered. Here are 6 possibilities to who may have entered into Sicarius’ holding room and why.

1 The Attorney General

The Attorney General in Criminal Minds: Evolution

Although the Attorney General manages to avoid drawing contention toward herself throughout season 1, Criminal Minds: Evolution envelops Attorney General Louise Davis (Monnae Michaell) in the larger BAU antagonist plot line. Upon Deputy Director Bailey’s death, it is revealed Criminal Minds: Evolution’s true villainy permeates even the highest ranks of government. Aside from Bailey, the Attorney General is one of the few government officials known to understand what Gold Star could mean and why the FBI would go to great lengths to keep it buried.

The depths to which the FBI is willing to keep Gold Star uncovered is highlighted in Attorney General Davis’ willingness to sacrifice the life of Agent Rossi and allow Elias to escape out of jurisdiction. As Rossi eventually survives his confines, Elias becomes detained, and the BAU challenges the Attorney General’s intentions by the end of season 1, the probability that Davis will confront Voit’s dark endgame in order to straighten up loose ends is high. Criminal Minds: Evolution’s showrunner Erica Messer has teased at the inner workings of the FBI before hinting that if it isn’t the Attorney General visiting Voit, it may be one of her contemporaries.

2 Senior Agent David Rossi

David Rossi sitting in Criminal Minds: Evolution

David Rossi is naturally yet another highly probable candidate in terms of people who could be visiting Elias Voit in the investigation room, as Rossi has been an integral aspect to Sicarius’ master plan from the start. Voit extensively studied Rossi’s written literature on the fundamentals of serial killers and ultimately targets the agent, which brings about one of Criminal Minds’ most shocking death teases. Although Rossi survives the clutches of Elias, it’s evident Voit’s plan and possible contingencies are far from over.

Rossi could be integral to further deciphering Voit’s psyche, especially because the killer seems to have a special attachment to this particular BAU agent. What’s obvious is that the BAU will need every advantage to help placate Voit, whose season 2 return has been hinted to take on the essence of Hannibal Lector. With a profile that impressive, David Rossi may ultimately continue to engage the very personal opposition that Criminal Minds: Evolution has created between them.

3 Tyler Green

Tyler Green in Criminal Minds: Evolution

Out of the array of cast and characters in Criminal Minds: Evolution season 1, the divisive vigilante Tyler Green has been confirmed to come back next season. Green’s vendetta against Sicarius originated as a result of Voit murdering his sister, and could grow to include the murder attempt on his own life. Certainly, Penelope Garcia’s romantic separation from him in the season finale implies Tyler might not be capable of change until the execution of his revenge on Voit – but, if not, Tyler Green’s season 2 return heavily suggests he and Elias Voit will cross paths once again.

4 Unit Chief Emily Prentiss Or Dr. Tara Lewis

Tara Lewis and Emily Prentiss in Criminal Minds: Evolution

Criminal Minds: Evolution emphasizes the BAU bond that is threatened in season 1 not only by the external force of Elias Voit but by mysterious internal influences as well. While the rest of the agents take to the field to investigate, Prentiss and Lewis are left to discern the political intentions of the government and why Evolution‘s Gold Star is important enough to wager the life of a federal agent. Prentiss and Lewis both display an interest in maintaining the integrity of the Behavioral Analysis Unit, and a meeting with Voit could ensure the protection of both of them.

5 Rebecca Wilson

DOJ Rebecca Wilson in Criminal Minds: Evolution

Rebecca Wilson could provide insight into Elias Voit’s endgame if she ever plans to reveal what she knows about Gold Star. Despite Dr. Tara Lewis’ efforts to be truthful and transparent, the DOJ agent refuses to reveal any helpful insight, even though for the moment she seems to be the only other government agent with Gold Star information. Seeing as her colleague Deputy Director Bailey was murdered for his knowledge on Gold Star, Rebecca might seek the council of Voit for the purpose of extracting an idea of how to avoid the same fate.

6 Bridget Voit & Her Family

Bridget Voit in Criminal Minds: Evolution

Bridget Voit and family are arguably Criminal Minds: Evolution’s biggest victims in having to accept the scarce father-figure of Elias only to later be told that he is expert killer Sicarius. The BAU makes sure to protect the family under witness protection, but a twist could well be that Bridget knew her and her daughters were Elias’ cover, and is prepared to use their freedom to assist in Sicarius’ release or escape. Whoever enters the room Voit is held in is rumored to be revealed in the first episode of Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2, and whether they’re there to help or hurt Sicarius remains the next big question.
