90 Day Fiancé: Caleb’s ‘Person Backpack’ For Alina Gets Odd Reactions

Fans discover a new reason to suspect Caleb is not the right boyfriend for Russian singer Alina on 90 Day Fiancé after a bonus scene surfaces.

90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days cast member Caleb Greenwood packed an item he referred to as a “person backpack” for Russian girlfriend Alina Kozhevnikova in a bonus scene. This has sparked a debate amongst fans, who are convinced Caleb’s too ignorant of Alina’s needs, and there are some who want to think that he is not worthy of all the shade he’s been getting. The lovely new 90 Day Fiancé star Alina has a condition called Diastrophic Dysplasia that requires her to use a wheelchair for longer distances. While Alina has brought along her best friend and roommate Elijah on their Turkey trip to help her with it, Caleb seems to think of him as a menace and wants to rely on his own specially designed backpack instead.

Even though Caleb and Alina have known each other for 13 years, their compatibility is being questioned thanks to 90 Day Fiancé. Some of Caleb’s comments to Alina right in their first episode gave fans a bad feeling about him. When Alina reached Turkey, she became upset upon finding out that Caleb had not booked an accessible hotel. Alina’s room on the second floor didn’t have an elevator, and her bed was too high, making it difficult for her to climb. Alina had to ask Elijah to stay with her in the room to assist her for the night. As expected, Caleb had an issue with Elijah using his room, apart from him commenting that Alina is shorter than he thought.

But some fans seem all the more annoyed after watching a scene with Caleb that was deleted from 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days episode 2 and later shown as a bonus scene. It appears that apart from packing his tarot cards and condoms, Caleb also has taken a backpack with him to Turkey as revealed via an Instagram post by fan page @truecrime_jankie. In it, Caleb notes that he and Alina will face “some challenges in sightseeing together,” so he’s picked up a backpack to combat them. Because he’s never opened it before, Caleb unpacks and wears the “person backpack” and shows how Alina “will sit right in the back of it.” Fans are particularly miffed with Caleb saying that he will be “hiking, climbing, whatever,” with Alina using the backpack, before adding, “No wheelchair getting in the way. She’s not getting tired out. Makes the world so accessible to us.”

In the comments, some fans called Caleb’s idea “offensive” and “clueless.” A different comment said, “Someone tell him what a BAD idea this is.” Fans remember Alina saying that she doesn’t like to be picked up during an older conversation with Caleb in which he kept insisting that he could throw her over his shoulder. One fan noted that Caleb’s intention comes from a good place but that he should have consulted Alina before buying something like that, just in case. Fully adjustable backpacks that are geared toward carrying kids and adults with disabilities do exist. However, Alina may not be comfortable going on hikes while riding on Caleb’s back, as they’ve really just met. “Omg no this can’t be real! This has to be staged,” commented another worried 90 Day Fiancé viewer.

A few theories about why Alina and Caleb could be faking their romantic relationship on TV are already floating around online. But Caleb recently responded to the criticism and revealed he’s been getting positive responses from “people who have disabilities or have close relationships with disabled people.” It’s possible that Caleb is not the villain that some fans think he is. But it might take a miracle for most 90 Day Fiancé fans to believe that.
