AirTags For Android: The Best Alternatives

[ad_1]

Apple’s AirTags don’t work with Android devices, but there are plenty of high-quality alternatives that are compatible with Android smartphones. AirTags are the most well-known and popular Bluetooth trackers available in the market, but they’re only compatible with Apple’s own devices, like the iPhone. Thankfully, AirTag alternatives on Android are plentiful, and many of them work just as well.

When looking for Airtag alternatives, the two names that stand out are Tile and Samsung. Tile is often credited with popularizing the sector and is still synonymous with cross-platform Bluetooth trackers. The Tile Pro costs $35 a pop, but for the price, it offers some fantastic features, including 400-foot range, full water-proofing, and a replaceable battery that ensures it isn’t a use-and-throw product. It is compatible with Android and iOS and works with Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant.

Other Bluetooth Trackers For Android

Then there’s Tile Mate, which costs $24.99 apiece and offers a range of 200 feet. The company also offers multiple subscription plans that provide features like 30-day location history, smart alerts, and item reimbursement of up to $1,000. Tile also recently announced the Tile Ultra, the company’s first ultra-wideband tracker, but it isn’t available for purchase yet.

As for Samsung‘s Galaxy SmartTag and SmartTag Plus, the devices tap into the Galaxy Find network, which works similarly to Apple’s Find My and helps users locate their items. The SmartTag Plus also uses ultra-wideband frequencies to pinpoint the exact location of an item and works with most of Samsung’s recent flagship smartphones. On the downside, they are only compatible with Samsung devices, which means owners of other Android devices won’t be able to use them. While the Galaxy SmartTag costs $29.99, about the same as an AirTag, the SmartTag Plus costs $39.99.

Another leading vendor in the sector is Chipolo, whose flagship Chipolo One costs $25. The company also offers multi-packs at discounted prices. The tracker comes with a replaceable battery that the company claims can last for two years before needing to be changed. It also comes with water resistance (IPX5 rated) and loud, 120dB speakers for easier finding. It has a range of 200 feet and is compatible with Android and iOS. It also works with Siri, Google Assistant, and Amazon Alexa on smart speakers and mobile devices.

Another company that makes great Bluetooth trackers is Cube. It offers a few different types of trackers, including a GPS tracker that’s even better than AirTags at tracking location. The Cube GPS is a compact tracker that can track the precise location of cars, personal belongings, and even pets in real-time. Since this is a GPS tracker, it requires a SIM card to update its location and a data connection to transmit that information. A yearly subscription starts at $16.50 per month, while the tracker itself is priced quite affordably at $29.95. Users also have the option to set up geo-fence zones and get alerts on their phone when the tracker leaves a designated area. It even comes with several optional accessories, including a pet collar clip.

All of Cube’s other trackers are Bluetooth-based, which means they only work if the tracker is in close proximity to a connected smartphone, within a range of up to 200 feet. Among the available options, the Cube Shadow ($39.95) is the slimmest option, ideal for slipping into a wallet. It also comes with an adhesive tap that allows it to be stuck onto a phone, laptop, or tablet. Other options include the Cube ($24.95) and Cube Pro ($29.95). All the Bluetooth trackers feature a rechargeable battery which significantly extends their lifespan. However, unlike AirTags, Cube’s Bluetooth trackers don’t rely on a network of connected devices to transmit their location, which means they’re best used within a home or in a specific location.

Google Is Making An AirTag Rival For Android

For Android users who are waiting for a true AirTag rival, the good news is that Google is making one of its own. Codenamed ‘Grogu,’ this tracker will offer a few features that set it apart from the competition. For one, the tracker will use Google’s Fast Pair feature, which will make set up with an Android phone incredibly easy. Second, the tracker will reportedly be available in a variety of colors, unlike the AirTag, which only comes in white.

Most importantly though, Google is developing its own ‘Finder Network,’ which is an Apple Find My alternative. Considering the billions of Android phone smartphones around the world, the Finder Network has the potential to make tracking lost devices much easier. Google’s tracker reportedly also has a speaker like AirTag, which will allow it to emit a sound to make it easier to find. While there’s still no official launch date for the Google tracker, it has the potential to be the best Android alternative for AirTag when it becomes available.
