From the film’s central relationships to seemingly throwaway lines of dialogue and intentionally silly resolutions to the film’s mystery to capitalize on the notion that Miles Bron is not much of a genius, Johnson’s hints are plentiful. These hints culminate in another fantastic deduction scene from Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc akin to Knives Out’s climactic scene. With that being said, here is every hint sprinkled throughout Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery that alerts audiences to the true intentions of Miles Bron, played by former MCU star Edward Norton.

Miles Would Know About Duke’s Pineapple Allergy

The first hint to Miles’ means of murder comes towards the end of the film’s first act and becomes clear after Glass Onion reveals exactly how Dave Bautista’s Duke Cody is killed. The murder of Duke comes at the end of the second act when the film’s characters are partying in Miles’ art room. After drinking from the wrong glass, Duke drops dead for unknown reasons. It is later revealed that Duke did not pick up the wrong glass, and instead Miles gave Duke a glass with pineapple juice in it.

Earlier in the film, as the characters converge in Greece to head to Miles’ private island, Duke makes it clearly known to everyone that he is allergic to pineapple in what initially seemed like one of Glass Onion’s many jokes. However, this explains his death later in the film after being spiked with pineapple juice. This is a clue in and of itself as Miles and Duke have been friends for years, meaning Miles would know of Duke’s allergy, as highlighted by Miles’ knowledge of all his friends when they arrive on the island. If eagle-eyed fans spot that Miles hands Duke the drink, it is not hard to put two and two together and assume that Miles killed Duke using his allergy.

Miles Interrupts Duke At The Pool

In between Duke revealing his allergy and his eventual death, he and Miles have a conversation at the pool that hints at Miles’ murderous intentions. When reminiscing on prior events, Duke mentions a time when Bron almost “pancaked” him before being cut off by Miles prior to Duke revealing where this took place. Miles interrupts and finishes the sentence by saying the incident happened outside Anderson Cooper’s house before swiftly changing the topic of conversation.

In a later scene that makes full use of Glass Onion’s talented cast, it is revealed that this incident happened outside Andi’s house, as Miles was speeding away from the scene of the murder of his business partner. Duke, however, simply thought Andi, played by Janelle Monáe, was not home when arriving at her house after Miles. It is only after Duke receives an alert on his phone of the press releasing news of Andi’s death that he realizes Miles killed her that night.

Miles interrupts the story in order to cover his tracks so that Blanc and the other guests do not know he was at Andi’s house the night of her murder. Upon Duke realizing this, Miles kills him using the aforementioned pineapple allergy to further cover his murder of Andi and secure his alibi. Before Netflix’s Glass Onion’s climactic revelation, this interruption of Duke by Miles is simply played off as two friends misremembering an event, before being revealed to be a cover-up by Miles.

The Murder Takes Place In Miles’ House

Another clue that is less overt in the script but more obvious based on the location of the attempted murder of Helen. As is established at the beginning of the film, Glass Onion takes place on Miles’ private island in his own mansion. This means that Miles knows the layout of his own house and his own island better than every other guest. While the murder of Duke is not really affected by this, the attempted murder of Helen is. After the lights are turned off across the island, chaos ensues and the guests scatter across Miles’ mansion, named the Glass Onion which explains the film’s title.

It is in this chaos, that Miles attempts to kill Helen by hiding in a room that puts him in the perfect spot to spy on her and Blanc. Everyone else seems to be aimlessly running around the mansion for fear of a killer being among them before converging on the gunshot sound of Miles’ attempt at killing Helen. Miles, however, will naturally know the layout of his own home and how best to attempt a murder without being caught better than any other person present at the Glass Onion, enabling him to get in position, shoot Helen, and quickly return to the crime scene as if he was innocent.

Benoit Blanc Overtly Describes The Kill Method To Miles

Finally, arguably the most obvious clue to Miles’ attempted murder of Helen comes from Benoit Blanc himself. Shortly after arriving at the island, Miles questions Blanc – played once again to perfection by former James Bond Daniel Craig – on why the latter is there considering the former did not invite him. Blanc, knowing that Helen suspects someone present murdered her sister Andi, alerts Miles to his suspicions of ill intent from someone on the island. During the conversation, Blanc insists that murder on a huge secluded island could be as easy as turning off the lights and shooting someone in the dark.

Later in the film, when Helen’s attempted murder takes place, the lights around the island go off and Helen is shot. This is how Blanc deduces that Miles is the murderer, alongside the other aforementioned hints of Duke’s murder, with Miles taking the idea directly from Blanc’s words. Glass Onion, which’s box office could affect Netflix’s future releases, establishes that Miles is not necessarily the genius he makes himself out to be, and often takes ideas from others. One of these ideas is the method of murder used against Helen, which Miles took from Blanc based on their earlier conversation in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
