According to one of the Marvel Studios producers, Ant-Man 4 talks are already happening with Kevin Feige ahead of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania‘s release. In less than a week, Phase 5 will officially be launched as Marvel Studios gets further into the Multiverse Saga. Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania will continue the adventures of Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne. However, the Ant-Man sequel is not just serving as a trilogy finale but a crucial installment for the Multiverse Saga. Following his introduction in Loki season 1, Kang the Conqueror will have a massive push in Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania as he gets set up for future films.

While Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania is coming next week, it appears the MCU is already prepping future adventures. In an interview with Comic Book, Marvel Studios producer Stephen Broussard said conversations have already begun about Ant-Man 4. Even though it hasn’t been greenlit, Broussard confirmed that discussions about the future of the Ant-Man franchise are something they are looking at with various ideas being floated around. It also appears that Ant-Man trilogy director Peyton Reed is also part of those talks, as Broussard shared the following:

“We’re already thinking about it. It’s like, every movie’s its own battle and you bear the scars of making it and wanting to make it great. But hope springs eternal and you start to put yourself back together after the journey of making the movie. You’re like, ‘Yeah, what if we did X and what if we did Y?’ Like the wheels start turning, you can’t help yourself. I don’t want to say anything about specifically what those are, but yeah, you can’t help yourself. Those conversations, those whispers have already started to happen between myself and Peyton and Kevin.”

What Ant-Man 4 Could Be About

Paul Rudd as Ant-Man in Ant-Man & The Wasp Quantumania Quantum Realm

If Ant-Man 4 ends up happening, it likely won’t come out until Phase 7 or 8 at this point. As far as what Ant-Man 4 could be about, it also relies heavily on what goes down in Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania. Assuming that they are still going with Scott and Hope as the primary focus, the start of a new trilogy could get even further into Cassie Lang’s heroic arc. Even though Cassie will be suiting up in Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania, this is only the beginning for her.

There have been speculations that Scott may potentially get killed off in Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania based on the recent trailer. If Paul Rudd’s time is coming up, it makes Ant-Man 4 a bigger mystery because a new trilogy would have to go in a new direction. Even if Cassie and Hope’s story continues, there still needs to be someone to fill the Ant-Man role of it all. That could be a reason to introduce the third version of the hero, Eric O’Grady, who took on the title in the comics.

The idea of passing on the MCU legacy to someone else isn’t unheard of, and the Ant-Man franchise could be the next one to face that idea. It will probably be easier for Marvel Studios to lockdown an idea once they have seen the reception for Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania. Feige and the team will also likely be able to determine what Ant-Man 4 will focus on after the Multiverse Saga. But until Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania hits theaters, one can only speculate where Ant-Man 4 will take the franchise.
