Black Adam’s Ultimate Feat Just Made Shazam Look Like an Amateur

Shazam has done a huge amount of amazing things in his time in comics, but one of his greatest feats was just beaten by Black Adam!

Warning: Contains spoilers for Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #7!While Black Adam has long been DC’s strongest antihero, he just unleashed a staggering show of power that puts his longtime rival Shazam to shame. The moment comes as the cap to Black Adam’s time on the Justice League, and shows how his membership on the team has changed him.

In the grand finale to Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #7 (by Joshua Williamson, Giuseppe Camuncoli, Rafa Sandoval, Jack Herbert, Cam Smith and Daniel Sampere), readers see Black Adam unleash an unbelievable power. While fighting the Dark Army, Black Adam reveals not only does his power make him immune to infection from the darkness, but he’s also able to pass this power on to anyone he chooses. This is an unbelievable feat that would solve an equally unbelievable number of problems. While some think the Shazam Family make Billy weaker, Adam proves the ability to share their powers makes everyone stronger.

Billy Batson was granted the powers of Shazam by the Wizard, later choosing to share his powers with his family, which led to the creation of the Shazam Family. This ability to share powers seems to be limited for Shazam to only people he truly considers family. In Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #7, Black Adam either doesn’t seem to have any such limitation, or he’s grown a lot closer to the team than he’d admit. Adam empowers every DC hero at once, upgrading them with his magical might and creating an army of light to push back the darkness.

Black Adam Can Upgrade the Entire Justice League

Black Adam’s ability to share his powers, to seemingly literally anyone he chooses, means that in the greater scheme of things he could solve almost any crisis event the moment it happens. Black Adam was instrumental in defeating Deathstroke, entirely because he was able to share his incredible powers with the entire Justice League. Not only was Black Adam able to increase the already incredible power of people like Superman, but he was able to grant superhuman abilities to non-powered individuals like Batman as well. These powers include not only magical lightning, but heat vision, flight, invulnerability, and other magical enhancements. With this power-sharing now established in DC canon, Black Adam will likely be the first port of call every time there’s a threat the Justice League isn’t already powerful enough to handle.

Black Adam has not always been the best person – he has ruled Khandaq with an iron fist, and he has clashed with both Superman and Shazam over the years. But despite all of this Black Adam was still able to stand with the heroes of the universe against Pariah when the time came. His ability to share his power with whoever he chooses makes Black Adam one of the most important people in the DC Universe, and a more valuable Justice League ally than even the more directly heroic Shazam.
