Black Panther 2’s Vibranium Setup Makes 1 X-Men Character So Overpowered

[ad_1]

Vibranium has become even more valuable thanks to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but it could also make the X-Men’s Magneto incredibly powerful.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has made vibranium more prevalent in the MCU than ever before, potentially setting up a major X-Men villain to be incredibly powerful. Mutants are slowly being introduced in the MCU with new characters such as Kamala Khan’s Ms. Marvel and Namor, the undersea ruler of Talokan. However, the imminent introduction of the X-Men proper will likely debut none other than Magneto, the Master of Magnetism whose mutant abilities could make him quite dangerous due to an influx of vibranium.

While Magneto is currently an ally to the X-Men and their nation of Krakoa in the comics, his introduction in the MCU will likely be as a villain, the role he’s had for most of his comics career. Having the ability to control metal, it’s confirmed that Magneto can manipulate most fictional metals in the Marvel Universe as well such as adamantium, the indestructible metal covering Wolverine’s bones. He can also manipulate uru, the metal ore used to forge Thor’s hammer. However, there have been conflicting comics about whether Magneto can control vibranium. That being said, that ambiguity could work in the MCU’s favor.

Adding More Vibranium To The MCU Sets Up Magneto’s Best Power Use

If Magneto can indeed control vibranium either from Wakanda or Talokan in the MCU, he then has a very strong amount of potential to become quite formidable, going beyond his previous depictions. Likewise, any future deposits of vibranium revealed elsewhere in the MCU would increase that potential. Vibranium has a plethora of impressive capabilities, and some have yet to be seen on-screen (like its ability to conduct magical energy). As such, Magneto getting his hands on some vibranium would instantly make him a threat, as there’s no telling what he could do with the rare metal in his mission to make mutants the superior species.

With Black Panther: Wakanda Forever establishing an ongoing global arms race to find and/or steal vibranium in the name of national defense, Magneto’s MCU debut could create a major upset. A scenario where Magneto obtains his own personal supply of the rare and powerful metal is as compelling as it is dangerous for the entire world. Vibranium could easily make Magneto unstoppable in the MCU.

How The MCU Can Avoid Making Magneto Overpowered

Conversely, Magneto could instead be limited by vibranium. As seen in certain comics from Marvel such as Black Panther #48, vibranium in its purest form does not respond to Magneto, resisting his powers a rare exception. As such, this could be a way in which Magneto doesn’t become so overpowered in the MCU. Even though vibranium is being set up to play a major role in global affairs thanks to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the presence of Magneto in the MCU won’t matter as much if it’s the one metal he can’t control.
