Neugebauer began her directing career in theater, helming many acclaimed plays before setting her sights on film. Causeway has received generally positive reviews from critics, with many praising the actors’ performances. Jennifer Lawrence As Lynsey

Lynsey is an engineer with the U.S. military who suffers a traumatic brain injury and is sent home to recuperate. However, she finds it difficult because her home life brings up a lot of pain from her past. Lynsey is portrayed in the Causeway movie cast by Jennifer Lawrence, who is best known for playing Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games franchise and Mystique in X-Men: First Class. She is also known for Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle, Winter’s Bone, Mother!, and the Netflix film Don’t Look Up.

Brian Tyree Henry As James

James is a mechanic who befriends Lynsey after her truck breaks down. Like Lynsey, James also has some past trauma he is struggling to come to terms with. James is portrayed in the Causeway movie cast by Brian Tyree Henry, who is best known for his roles in Widows, the TV series Atlanta, If Beale Street Could Talk, the action film Bullet Train, Godzilla vs. Kong, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie Eternals, playing the inventor Phastos.

Linda Emond as Gloria – Gloria is Lynsey’s mother, who is often unreliable and emotionally unavailable. Linda Emond is known for playing Dr. Emily Sopher in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Clara Barton in the HBO series The Gilded Age, and Michelle-Anne Vanderhoven in the popular HBO drama Succession.

Stephen McKinley Henderson as Dr. Lucas – Dr. Lucas is Lynsey’s physician who is responsible for assessing whether she’s ready to return to military service. Stephen McKinley Henderson is known for Lincoln, Lady Bird, the Denzel Washington-directed Fences, Law & Order, the short-lived series New Amsterdam (not to be confused by the medical drama of the same name), and the sci-fi miniseries Devs.

Jayne Houdyshell as Sharon – In the Causeway movie cast, Sharon is Lynsey’s caretaker upon her return to civilian life. Jayne Houdyshell is known best for her role as Bunny Folger in the whodunit Hulu series Only Murders in the Building. She’s also appeared in Greta Gerwig’s 2019’s Little Women, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and the TV series American Odyssey.

Russell Harvard as Justin – Justin is Lynsey’s brother, who she hasn’t seen in a while at the start of Causeway. Russell Harvard is best known for his roles in the TV series Fringe, Fargo, and The Hammer.

Brian Tyree Henry Earned An Oscar Nomination For His Performance

When Jennifer Lawrence stars in a movie, it is almost expected she would receive awards recognition. However, when it comes to the Causeway movie cast, the Oscars passed on honoring Lawrence with another Oscar nomination. However, her co-star did hear his name called during the announcements. Brian Tyree Henry earned an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role as James, who dealt with some trauma of his own. The Oscars broke away from the Golden Globes here, as he wasn’t nominated at that ceremony. This was Tyree’s first Oscar nomination, although he is a two-time Emmy nominee. As for Causeway overall, however, this was its only Oscar nomination.
