Creed 3 Poster Reveals Touching Look At Adonis & His Family In The Ring

A new Creed 3 poster reveals touching look at Adonis and his family in the ring, giving viewers a peek of their life together five years later.

The latest Creed III poster reveals a touching look at Adonis (Michael B. Jordan) and his family — Bianca (Tessa Thompson) and Amara (Mila Davis-Kent) — in the boxing ring. The film will be unique within the franchise on two fronts, as it’s not only the first film without Sylvester Stallone present, but is also Jordan’s directorial debut. Creed III will be released in March 2023, five years after the second installment.

With just a few months remaining until it hits theaters, a new Creed III poster arrives from MGM, showing Adonis sitting with his wife’s arm draped over him and his daughter on the ground in front of him. Capturing the family unit they have become, the poster highlights how important a role Adonis’ family will play in the events of the film. The backdrop of the ring also illustrates that the trio will face things together, both in Adonis’ career and their home life. Check out the new poster below:

Creed III will follow Adonis in the midst of life as a successful boxer, husband, and father. When his former childhood friend Damian (Jonathan Majors) resurfaces from prison, Adonis at first tries to help Damian regain some of his former boxing glory. However, he soon realizes that much of Damian’s resentment and bitterness is targeted towards him. Adonis’ former opponents Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu) and “Pretty” Ricky Conlan (Tony Bellew) will also star in the film, though to what capacity hasn’t been disclosed.

Jordan’s film will veer away from the feel-good nature of the series, venturing into darker territory. This was confirmed by Stallone himself, and cited as one of his major reasons for not returning as Adonis’ coach and mentor. Stallone could be referencing the fact that Damian’s character is far from a typical Rocky villain. As someone who endured extreme hardship and has nothing to lose as he moves toward his goals, Damian is likely to be a sympathetic and complex antagonist, making it more difficult for viewers to root against him. While possibly a turn-off for long-time franchise fans, this change in dynamic sets the Rocky universe off in a new and possibly rewarding direction.

The poster also seems to hint that Bianca will get more screen time, a win for fans who feel that she had previously been sidelined as merely a love interest. In particular, viewers are hopeful to see Bianca’s relationship with Amara, who has inherited her progressive degenerative hearing disorder, as well as to dive deeper into her own blossoming music career. Part of a franchise that’s widely considered a staple of its genre but also paving its own path, Creed III has the potential to not just repurpose the sports drama formula but to transcend it altogether.
