Daredevil: Born Again Reportedly Casts Two Potential Love Interests
Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again adds two new actors to its cast list, and they’re reportedly playing love interests.
The upcoming Disney+ television series Daredevil: Born Again has reportedly cast two potential love interests. Following Charlie Cox’s return as Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Marvel Studios announced that the character will lead another television show following the cancelation of his Netflix series in 2018. The new 18-episode show will serve as a reboot of the character for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will also see the return of Vincent D’Onofrio as the villainous crime lord, Wilson Fisk/Kingpin.
Per Deadline, two potential love interests have been cast in Daredevil: Born Again. Actors Margarita Levieva and Sandrine Holt will be joining the cast opposite Cox and D’Onofrio. Levieva is known for her work on HBO’s The Deuce as Abby Parker and is set to star in the upcoming Star Wars show, The Acolyte. Holt made a name for herself in Rapa Nui as Ramana before cultivating a long career in film and television with roles in 24, House of Cards, and The Expanse. Details regarding the new characters have yet to be released.
Which Lead Characters Could Be Getting Love Interests
Although it is unclear which characters will be getting love interests, as very few actors have been announced, it looks like Murdock and Fisk are the main candidates. If Daredevil: Born Again serves as a loose continuation of the previous Daredevil season, as the series’ MCU canon is still up for debate, adding both Levieva and Holt as love interests will raise questions if they are indeed for Murdock and Fisk. Throughout Daredevil‘s three seasons, Murdock had a number of romantic partners. Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) briefly proved to be an emotional companion to Murdock before Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), Murdock’s assistant, played the part. Unfortunately, their relationship was met with turmoil when his former lover, Elektra Natchios (Élodie Yung), returned. As of right now, none of these characters are confirmed to return for Daredevil: Born Again.
However, Cox’s first appearance in the MCU as the superhero Daredevil came in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, where he found himself partnered with Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk. The two quickly developed feelings for each other with the series ending on a positive note when Murdock attends a family function as Walters’ date. However, with both heroes living and operating on opposing sides of the country, managing a long-distance relationship may prove difficult and could open up Murdock for a new love interest.
Will Daredevil: Born Again Recast Vanessa Fisk?
With D’Onofrio returning as Fisk in Daredevil: Born Again, many wondered if Vanessa Marianna (Ayelet Zurer) would return as well. Daredevil season 3 saw Fisk finally marry Vanessa after spending a significant time in prison. Unfortunately, they did not have a chance to embark on their honeymoon as the season concluded with a climactic attack at the Presidential Hotel in New York, resulting in Fisk’s imprisonment once again. However, Fisk’s return to the MCU in the Disney+ Hawkeye series did not feature Vanessa, sparking questions of her return. Although D’Onofrio has expressed his desire for Zurer to return to the role, only time will tell if Fisk will catch the fancy of a new love interest when Daredevil: Born Again arrives on Disney+ in 2024.
