Dead By Daylight Bone Chill Winter Event Guide (Strategies & Rewards)

[ad_1]

Dead by Daylight’s annual winter event makes a return with Bone Chill 2022. From December 8th, 2022 to January 4th, 2023, The Entity’s Realm will be decorated throughout the maps with festive holiday decor. Players will be able to unlock and purchase limited-time cosmetics, charms, and items.

This year’s Bone Chill is a bit different from last year’s as Killers can now hide with the survivors within the inflatable Snowmen scattered across the realm. A total of 8 Snowmen will be available for each trial. Entering the Snowmen will grant the player a hiding place and 100 Bloodpoints.

Players inside the Snowmen, both survivors and killers, will be slowed significantly. Killers cannot use their powers while inside the Snowman suit, but will attack simultaneously while bursting out of the suit. Killers like Dead by Daylight‘s The Onryo, or Sadako, whose unique powers can be activated or deactivated, will need to be in a neutral state or out of their power to enter a Snowman. Sneaky Killers such as The Shape or The Ghost Face may find Snowman gameplay very advantageous. Unlike last year, survivors attacked while inside the suit will not be protected from the hit and will lose a health state, unless they’re using perks such as Mettle of Man that can deflect hits.

Additionally, nothing is granted other than the Bloodpoints by hiding in the Snowmen. This year, all rewards are granted through the Tomb, rather than by interacting with or escaping with the Snowmen. However, players giving each other high-fives while inside the Snowman suits will get a neat little animation, inspired by the community’s enthusiasm for last year’s Bone Chill winter event.

On top of map changes, the event will also generate Winter Party Starters within the Bloodweb for survivors, which will cost 2000 Bloodpoints. The Winter Party Starters will act as single-use Flashbangs, which act as a distraction, to blind, or get a killer to drop a survivor while carrying them. Survivors can also find the Winter Party Starters in chests found throughout the trial.

A new Tomb is available during Bone Chill, with only the first half available at the start of the event. The second half of the Tomb will open on December 14th. The Bone Chill Tomb will be available until January 4th and include a series of challenges that are simple to accomplish for avid players, such as collecting Bloodpoints or hooking survivors.

Cosmetics for survivors in the first half of the Bone Chill Tomb include an ugly sweater for Dead by Daylight‘s Haddie Kaur and the head component for David King’s Makeshift Nutcracker outfit. Killer cosmetics available are the extremely creepy Frosty The Nightmare arms and Frosty Eyes for The Dredge and a Holiday Harpoon weapon for The Deathslinger. Charms included are the Dwelf and Trickster dolls, matching the aesthetics of previously released doll charms. Finishing this Tomb will reward 10 rift fragments and A Friendly Face event charm.

The second half of the Bone Chill Tomb will contain an ugly sweater for the newest survivor, Vittorio Toscano, and the remainder of David King’s Makeshift Nutcracker outfit. Killer cosmetics will be composed of The Huntress’s Holiday Surprise, the rest of The Dredge’s Frosty the Nightmare outfit, and Frosty Eyes for Dead by Daylight’s newest killer, The Knight. Maurice’s Stocking charm will be rewarded for completing the final portion of the Tomb.

Players can also get free Bloodpoints, Rift Fragments, and Iridescent Shards simply by logging into the game daily as part of the Season of Giving Advent Calendar. December 25th will grant players a hefty bounty of all three, with a whopping 300,000 Bloodpoints, 5 Rift Fragments, and 1,000 Iridescent Shards. Rift Fragments will grant progress toward the latest Rift titled Malevolence, which began concurrently with this year’s in-game Halloween event. Malevolence will be open until the end of the winter event.

Players can use their collected Iridescent Shards or purchase Auric Cells to take advantage of Dead by Daylight’s winter event cosmetics sale. The collection, Deck the Trials, consists of community-voted winter-themed Very Rare outfits inspired by fairy tales. Dead by Daylight‘s The Trickster, Kate, Mikaela, Yun-Jin, and Meg each have a new, limited-time outfit. Each outfit will cost players 1,080 Auric Cells, or roughly $8.99 for those needing to purchase the Auric Cells from the store.

The purchasable outfits have been confirmed to return for the next winter season, so the cosmetics are not lost forever for players unable to purchase them this year. Players can also check out the 40% off sale for past winter event cosmetics, including the popular Ugly Sweater collection, which starts on December 22nd and lasts through the end of the event. Regardless of whether players prefer to play as survivors or as killers, they have a lot to look forward to during this year’s Bone Chill winter event in Dead by Daylight.
