Deadpool Just Ruined His Best Chance To Be Taken Seriously

[ad_1]

In the latest issue of Marvel Comics’ Deadpool, Wade Wilson just missed out on his chance to be seen as a professional and serious assassin.

Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Deadpool #2In the latest issue of Marvel’s new Deadpool series, it seems Wade Wilson has missed out on his best chance to be taken seriously as a professional assassin. Known as the Merc With the Mouth, Deadpool is often viewed as incredibly annoying to nearly every hero, anti-hero, and villain who’s ever interacted with him. However, Deadpool had a genuine chance to gain a solid reputation, an opportunity that has now been ruined.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

While Deadpool sought to join the ranks of the prestigious Atelier, his audition in the form of assassination has not proceeded as planned. Given 48 hours to kill none other than Doctor Octopus, Deadpool was all set to kill the major Spider-Man villain before the was kidnaped by the Harrower, a mad geneticist seeking to grow her own Carnage symbiote within Deadpool’s body (thanks to his unique healing factor). Having lost nearly all of his allotted time to fulfill the contract, it seems as though Wade is destined to always be a joke following the new Deadpool #2 from Alyssa Wong and Martin Coccolo.

Will Deadpool Still Become A Member of the Atelier?

Deadpool vs Doc Ock in Marvel Comics

While Deadpool tries his best in this issue to kill Doc Ock and work together with the symbiote growing inside him, he ultimately has no choice but to retreat. As such, he’s effectively failed to meet his deadline of killing Octavius. As such, that also means he’s seemingly missed out on his first and only shot to become one of the most respected assassins in the world.

That being said, Deadpool retreated to the safe house of Valentine Vuong, a member of the Atelier who was Wade’s point of contact. Despite being instructed by the Horned Emperor to not have any contact with Deadpool (or his partner Lady Deathstrike) after missing the deadline to kill Doc Ock, they lie on the duo’s behalf, claiming they haven’t seen Wilson or Yuriko and deciding to help Wade anyway. As such, it’s clear that Deadpool’s dealings with the Atelier are far from over.

While the Atelier’s rules were pretty clear, perhaps a case can be made that Wade deserves another chance. After all, Deadpool didn’t ask to be knocked out and experimented on for the majority of his kill window. Either way, it will be exciting to see what’s in store for Wade (and his new symbiote) as this new series continues. Deadpool #2 is on sale now from Marvel Comics.
