Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will be making a return soon thanks to a free next-gen update shortly followed by a new season pass for the game that will begin with a DLC focusing on Bardock, the Father of Goku. Fans can expect to play as Bardock in January 2023.

Kakarot bringing more DLC is the perfect time for players to play as some of their favorite Dragon Ball characters, like Goku. Goku is the main protagonist of the franchise and has had some epic battles. In some, he has spared his foes at the end of a long fight, but in others, he finished them off brutally.

Goku Fights Each Of The Shadow Dragons And Spares None

All the Shadow Dragons in Dragon Ball GT

The Shadow Dragons were some of the most fearsome foes that Goku went up against in Dragon Ball GT. They were a relatively mixed bag, but most of them held a highly antagonistic and villainous view toward Goku and Earth. Because of this, and the necessity to defeat them for the sake of the Earth, Goku didn’t bother sparing any of their lives.

Goku’s biggest struggle was against Omega Shenron, the form Syn Shenron took on when he absorbed the powers of all seven Dragon Balls. This opponent had only been defeated with a Spirit Bomb gathered from the universe.

Goku Saves Tien And Kills Drum With A Single Blow

Goku kills Piccolo's son Drum in Dragon Ball

It can be easy to forget a villain who didn’t stick around very long. Drum was one of King Piccolo’s minions hatched from eggs. He was far more powerful than the previous ones and gave Tien Shinhan a tough fight. Drum was a perfect way, however, to display Goku’s previous powers. Just previously in the recent arc, Goku had been evenly matched with Tien.

Now, Goku was able to kill an opponent that defeated him with a single blow. Not only did this showcase Goku’s newfound powers, but it also showed how cold and brutal Goku was. Goku’s lust for revenge had extended from Tambourine to King Piccolo and all of his minions. Goku knew what Drum was capable of and didn’t give a single thought to sparing his life.

Goku Finally Defeats The Red Ribbon Army By Killing Staff Officer Black

Staff Officer Black in his Battle Jacket vs Goku - Dragon Ball.

It’s argued that Goku didn’t spare many soldiers when he stormed his way into the Red Ribbon Army base and the last standing leader, Staff Officer Black, was no exception to that. Black underwent a fierce battle with Goku, but it wasn’t enough to stand against the Saiyan. Goku never really gave Black any chances to surrender, and it’s likely because he saw the Red Ribbon Army as pure evil.

Goku Reveals His Super Saiyan 2 Form And Forces Yakon To Explode

Yakon eating Goku's power in Dragon Ball Z

Goku’s kill count in Dragon Ball Z is extremely low, but Yakon is one of the few beings he does kill. Usually, when fans see Goku fighting minions in the series like Nappa or the Ginyu Force, he does handle them easily, however, he usually gives them a chance to surrender. Yakon wasn’t so fortunate. Goku saw his strength in absorbing light and also saw that it was a weakness for Yakon too.

He took the opportunity and forced Yakon to suck in the energy of Goku’s Super Saiyan 2 aura and eventually made him explode, killing himself. When Goku sees others’ lives taken, he takes his fights a bit more seriously. He saw what Dabura had done, another servant of Babidi, when he murdered Kibito and turned Piccolo and Krillin to stone. He knew the fight against Yakon wouldn’t end unless he was killed, so he did what he saw needed to be done.

Goku Overwhelms Moro And Saves The Universe

Ultra Instant Perfected giant Goku fighting Moro in the Earth in the Dragon Ball Super manga

The entire struggle against Moro in Dragon Ball Super was long-lasting, especially at the end when Moro fused with the Earth, creating one of the strongest non-Saiyan transformations seen in Dragon Ball. In the end, however, Goku came out on top thanks to his Ultra Instinct form and the energy he borrowed from Uub to let him reuse the form and the massive Divine Ki Giant Battle Avatar needed to combat Moro as he fused into the Earth.

Moro had been threatening to destroy the entire universe and had Goku lost the fight, he would’ve done just that. Like many villains, Moro doesn’t have an ounce of good in him and there was no stopping Moro unless he was killed. This isn’t too different from when Cell tried to blow up the Earth and Goku teleported him to King Kai’s world. This time, Goku had a way to stop Moro without dying himself.

Goku Avenges Krillin By Obliterating Tambourine

Goku elbowing Tambourine in the face - Dragon Ball.

The loss of Krillin’s life had been one of the worst moments of Goku’s life. He put aside any reason and was willing to do whatever it took to get revenge and kill Tambourine. While his first encounter with Tambourine had Goku defeated easily, he came back much stronger later and full of energy.

He effortlessly beat back Tambourine and killed him without a shred of mercy as he obliterated him with one of Goku’s best techniques in Dragon Ball, his Kamehameha. This is a night and day comparison to Goku’s battle with Frieza who also killed Krillin but who Goku was willing to spare.

After A Long Battle Goku Sends Baby Into The Sun With His Kamehameha

Goku firing his Kamehameha at Baby - Dragon Ball GT.

Baby was the first foe that pushed Goku to his limits in Dragon Ball GT. Unfortunately, in a child’s body, Goku couldn’t utilize his full power well and was unable to keep up with Baby Vegeta even before he reached the pinnacle of his power.

By the end of the Saga Baby had retreated from Vegeta’s body and planned to return for revenge. Goku knew Baby wouldn’t stop any time soon and that he had no choice but to kill Baby to stop him for good.

Goku Fixes His Mistake And Kills Frieza

Goku dashing toward Frieza to fire a Kamehameha at him and kill him - Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F.

While Goku is infamous for sparing Frieza’s life and giving the emperor opportunity after opportunity there was one time that Goku did actually kill Frieza. This of course was in one of Dragon Ball‘s best films, Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F,’ as well as the Dragon Ball Super anime.

Goku sees the error of his ways after Frieza destroys the Earth and thankfully, Whis gives him a second chance to fix this and has them travel back in time. Goku then explodes forward and kills Frieza without hesitation knowing it was the only way to save the Earth.

Goku Finally Avenged His Friends By Killing King Piccolo

Goku punching King Piccolo - Dragon Ball.

One of Goku’s best fights in Dragon Ball was against King Piccolo. As with all of his fights in the King Piccolo arc, Goku never had any intention of sparing his opponent. This fight was all or nothing and a battle to the death.

Goku felt that he hadn’t truly avenged Krillin when learning about Piccolo and felt even more of a desperate need to kill Piccolo after Goku learned he had killed Roshi too. The fight was a close call with King Piccolo brutally injuring Goku. However, Goku’s final blow and full power had been enough and at last, he felt that his vengeance had been achieved.

Majin Buu Was Killed But Reincarnated As Uub

Dragon Ball_Kid Buu vs Spirit Bomb

Majin Buu is another one of the few characters that Goku killed in Dragon Ball Z. As Majin Buu gradually changed throughout the series he became far less reasonable. The final incarnation, Kid Buu, was completely unhinged and ended up requiring a Spirit Bomb to defeat.

While Goku had defeated Kid Buu without a second thought, he couldn’t help but desire to keep Buu around and wish to fight him again. So instead of sparing his life, he asked King Yemma to reincarnate Buu into a pure soul. A wish, that had been granted.
