Every Actor In Death Stranding 2 (& What You Know Them From)

[ad_1]

Hideo Kojima’s highly-anticipated Death Stranding 2 was finally announced early in December 2022 during The Game Awards. So far, in typical Kojima style, little has been revealed so far about the sequel to the critically-acclaimed game. However, alongside the small details offered in the trailer about the game’s plot, a partial cast list for the title has been revealed, containing the names of both returning and new actors.

The new cast list for the sequel – which isn’t actually called Death Stranding 2, but no other name has been revealed for the title – has names from across the voice acting, television, and film world. For both new and returning cast members, players may be wondering where they know those names and voices from other pieces of media. This is everyone that’s been announced so far as part of Death Stranding 2, and notable other works they’ve appeared in.

Death Stranding 2’s Returning Norman Reedus Is Known For TV

Considering he did motion capture for his role of Sam Porter Bridges in Death Stranding, Reedus’ face may have looked quite familiar to some players as the returning headliner for DS2‘s knnown cast as listed by GamesRadar. Although Reedus has worked across film and television for many years, his visage is arguably most recognizable for his role as Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead, one of the show’s most prominent characters. Action movie fans might also recognize Reedus, who confirmed Death Stranding 2 in the first place several months before the official trailer, from his starring roles in films like The Boondock Saints and its sequel. Interestingly, Reedus has also worked on another Kojima project in the past, voicing the protagonist of P.T., the teaser demo for the later-canceled Silent Hills game.

Lea Seydoux Was In Films Before Death Stranding

Lea Seydoux in Blue Is the Warmest Color

Before her role as Fragile in Death Stranding, Lea Seydoux had never appeared in a video game before. Except for her work with Kojima, the actress has worked exclusively in film. Seydoux has appeared in many critically-acclaimed movies, like Blue Is the Warmest Color, The Grand Budapest Hotel, and Crimes of the Future. Seydoux also notably played Bond-girl Madeleine Swann in Spectre and No Time To Die. Seydoux will once again stray from the world of film for Death Stranding 2, but doesn’t seem to have any other plans to foray into gaming roles.

Death Stranding’s Troy Baker Is Known For His Voice

From being one of the best game Batmans not voiced by Kevin Conroy to voicing Joel in The Last of Us games, Troy Baker is widely known for his voice talents. Baker, who will be returning as Higgs Monaghan in Death Stranding 2, has had an extensive career of voicing characters across anime, animated television, and film as well as gaming, from Frank Archer in Fullmetal Alchemist to roles as both Batman and Joker in many DC animated movies. Although perhaps most famous for his role as Joel in The Last of Us, Baker has also voiced well-known game characters like BioShock Infinite protagonist Booker DeWitt, the Far Cry series’ Pagan Min, and Spider-Man: Miles Morales antagonist Simon Krieger.

Death Stranding 2 Is Film Star Elle Fanning’s First Game

Elle Fanning in The Great, a period drama series set in 18th century Russia.

Actress Elle Fanning, who was teased for a Kojima game role even before the announcement of Death Stranding 2, has truly been in the film industry since near-infancy, following in the footsteps of her actress older sister Dakota Fanning. She first began truly rising to recognizable roles when she played characters like a younger version of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button‘s Daisy Fuller and Alice Dainard in Super 8. However, as she’s grown older she’s taken on roles in film and television that have truly made her a household name.

Film-wise, Fanning’s role as Princess Aurora in the Malificent movies buoy her stardom, and this was further compounded by her leading role in the television series The Great as the eponymous Catherine the Great. The very Hideo Kojima trailer for Death Stranding 2 did little to elaborate on what Fanning’s role will be in the game, as it didn’t feature any scenes with the actress. Whatever her role may be, the title will be Fanning’s first foray into video game acting.

Shioli Kutsuna Worked in TV & Film Before Death Stranding 2

While Shioli Kutsuna might be a slightly more unknown name than some other ones on this list, she’ll likely still look familiar to fans of superhero movies, as Kutsuna played the role of the hero Yukio in Deadpool 2. Kutsuna also starred alongside big names Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston in the Netflix film Murder Mystery. Just like Fanning, it’s currently unknown the role that Kutsuna will play in Death Stranding 2, and it likely won’t be revealed until much closer to the game’s launch window.

Although their names have not cropped up as a part of Death Stranding 2‘s biggest leaks and rumors, according to the IMDb page for the game, two other cast members from the previous Death Stranding, Mads Mikkelsen and Margaret Qualley, will appear in the sequel. However, these names have not been mentioned anywhere else as part of Death Stranding 2‘s cast list, and could’ve been put there in error due to their appearances in the previous game. While it’s of course possible that they could reprise their roles of Cliff Unger and twins Mama and Lockne in some way in the sequel, at this point in time there’s been no concrete evidence to support that being the case, so they’ve been left of this list for that reason.

There’s likely still a lot of the game’s cast that haven’t been announced yet, and most fans probably have their own thoughts on which actors should appear in the Death Stranding sequel. It’s very typical of Hideo Kojima as a developer to keep things under wraps and leave a lot of twists and surprises for fans, and that very well could apply to the game’s cast as well as its plot. The return of Reedus, Seydoux, and Baker is great news for fans of the first game, as all their great performances truly made the title an incredible cinematic experience.

Talented new cast members Fanning and Kutsuna will be welcome additions to the cast that will no doubt compliment the returning members from the original Death Stranding, and it’ll be exciting to eventually learn the new characters they’ll be playing. Although there’s still a lot left to learn about Death Stranding 2, players will be able to see a lot of familiar faces from other pieces of media when the game releases.
