Every Mandalorian Character Confirmed To Return In Season 3

[ad_1]

There have already been several The Mandalorian characters confirmed to return for season 3. Coming more than two years after The Mandalorian season 2, season 3 will pick up shortly after the events of Book of Boba Fett, which was described as “The Mandalorian season 2.5.” The Book of Boba Fett then saw the surprise cameos of many characters from The Mandalorian, including Din Djarin, Grogu, Carson Teva, Peli Motto, The Armorer, and Luke Skywalker. As the franchise continues Mando and Grogu’s journey they’ll be joined by many familiar and new characters in The Mandalorian season 3 cast.

Certain unconfirmed characters who could still return for The Mandalorian season 3 are Rosaria Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano, who will soon appear in her own solo Disney+ series, Luke Skywalker, Peli Motto, Boba Fett, Fennec Shand, Migs Mayfield, and Cobb Vance, who was last seen in a bacta tank during Book of Boba Fett’s post-credits scene. Back to the Future’s Christopher Lloyd is also confirmed to join the cast of The Mandalorian in an undisclosed role, while Cara Dune actress Gina Carano will not be returning for season 3. Here’s a breakdown of every Mandalorian character who is confirmed to return in season 3 so far.

Mando/Din Djarin

It goes without saying that Pedro Pascal will be returning as the title character in The Mandalorian season 3, with his storyline having been teased during his appearance in The Book of Boba Fett. With Mando and Grogu back together, the dynamic duo will be setting off on their path for Mandalore with the Darksaber, where they’ll inevitably face opposition from the other surviving Mandalorians. The teaser trailer for The Mandalorian season 3 revealed that Mando is heading to Mandalore to be “forgiven for his transgressions” after removing his helmet, which means the upcoming season is apt to introduce far more Mandalorian survivors on his journey.

Grogu

Grogu uses the Force in The Book of Boba Fett

After making an important cameo in The Book of Boba Fett, Grogu appeared in The Mandalorian season 3 footage back in his familiar floating crib. The beloved Baby Yoda was last seen reuniting with Din Djarin when he chose the life of the Mandalorian over the Jedi – an ultimatum given to him by Luke Skywalker. However, many Star Wars theories have suggested that Grogu could become the second Mandalorian Jedi after Tarre Vizsla, the ancestor of The Mandalorian character Paz Vizsla. Although Grogu is back with Din Djarin as a Mandalorian foundling, it doesn’t seem the young Force-sensitive child is done with his Jedi training for good.

Bo-Katan Kryze

While she didn’t appear in The Book of Boba Fett with several other Mandalorian characters, Katee Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan Kryze is confirmed to return in The Mandalorian season 3. The Mandalorian season 2 had already set up Bo-Katan’s conflict with Mando through his ownership of the Darksaber, a weapon she needs in order to rule Mandalore. The Star Wars: The Clone Wars character seems to be playing a much more significant role in The Mandalorian season 3, with Bo-Katan seen sitting on a notable throne and interacting with Grogu in the trailer.

Greef Karga

While Greef Karga only returned for one episode of The Mandalorian season 2, Carl Weathers’ character is confirmed to come back for season 3. Karga was last seen in the episode “The Siege,” which was also directed by Weathers, in which he was revealed as the magistrate of Nevarro working to eliminate Imperial forces. At the end of the episode, New Republic officers requested that Karga help them put an end to the Empire’s new plans, which is likely the journey viewers will see the character on in The Mandalorian season 3.

Carson Teva

New Republic X-wing pilot Captain Carson Teva also returns in The Mandalorian season 3, with the character having previously made notable appearances to pull over Mando in the skies. Teva returned in The Book of Boba Fett, once again stopping Mando (this time with Din in the newly-renovated N-1 starfighter), and The Mandalorian season 3 teaser trailer confirmed the return of Paul Sun-Hyung Lee’s character. The trailer also hints that the New Republic pilot may have been promoted ahead of The Mandalorian season 3.

Dr. Pershing

The Mandalorian Dr Pershing

Major antagonist Dr. Pershing is returning in The Mandalorian season 3 as the Empire continues its search for Grogu and his high midi-chlorian counts. The Imperial scientist was last seen in The Mandalorian season 2 finale, where Omid Abtahi’s Star Wars character was captured by Din Djarin and his colleagues. Pershing gave Mando crucial intel about Moff Gideon’s ship and Grogu’s whereabouts, but his future in The Mandalorian season 3 is less clear. The teaser trailer gave a brief glimpse of the Imperial doctor as he walked onto a mysterious base.

The Armorer

The Armorer in The Book of Boba Fett

One of the most important recurring characters in The Mandalorian is the Armorer (Emily Swallow), the female Mandalorian who represents some of the most devout survivors of the Tribe. After making Mando beskar armor in The Mandalorian season 1, the Armorer failed to appear in season 2, with her next cameo occurring in The Book of Boba Fett. During this appearance, the Armorer helped Din Djarin understand more about the Darksaber before banishing him for removing his helmet. However, she still agreed to use Mando’s beskar to make a mysterious object for Grogu, which was later revealed to be beskar chainmail. In The Mandalorian season 3’s teaser trailer, the Armorer returns as she walks into a cave with Mando and Grogu, where she explains that his redemption is no longer possible after Mandalore’s destruction.

Moff Gideon

Star Wars villain Moff Gideon‘s actor Giancarlo Esposito confirmed that his character would be playing an even more important role in The Mandalorian season 3 (via Digital Spy), which means more trouble for Mando and Grogu. Gideon was last seen in The Mandalorian season 2 finale when Din Djarin won the Darksaber from him, a weapon that will play a significant role in the upcoming season’s storyline on Mandalore. Esposito had previously teased that The Mandalorian season 3 would be arriving in the summer of 2022. His estimates were too good to be true, however, as audiences won’t see the characters return until 1 March 2023.

Peli Motto

Peli Motto holds Gorgu in her arms as she looks in the distance in The Mandalorian.

Amy Sedaris returns for The Mandalorian season 3 as Peli Motto, the intrepid mechanic and friend of both Din Djarin and Grogu. Like many The Mandalorian characters, Sedaris last played Motto in The Book of Boba Fett. It was almost a guarantee that Peli Motto would be in the new Mandalorian season, as the comic relief her character provides has been a highlight of previous seasons and The Book Boba Fett. Not to mention that the probable-genius refashioned the Naboo N1 starfighter Din and Grogu will be traveling in during season 3. Hopefully, season 3 of The Mandalorian will see Peli Motto reveal more about her life outside engineering — reveals like the fact she dated a Jawa definitely warrant further explanation.

Book Of Boba Fett Characters In The New Mandalorian Season

Boba and Fennec on Tatooine in The Book of Boba Fett

The Book of Boba Fett has been half-jokingly dubbed The Mandalorian season 2.5 by fans, owing to the fact the titular Boba Fett barely appears in certain episodes. These episodes, dedicated to Din Djarin and Grogu, not only flesh out Mando and Baby Yoda’s story, but reunite them before season 3. It also shows just how connected The Mandalorian spin-off is to its parent show. Many are wondering if this means Book of Boba Fett characters like Fennec Shand, Black Krrsantan, or Boba Fett himself will appear in The Mandalorian season 3.

So far there’s been no confirmed The Book of Boba Fett characters slated to appear in The Mandalorian season 3. That doesn’t mean there won’t be any, however. Every Disney+ Star Wars show so far has featured surprise appearances by characters from elsewhere in the franchise. It’s highly likely that at least one Book of Boba Fett character will appear in the new series of The Mandalorian. Plus, with Star Wars: Rebels characters like fellow Mandalorian Sabine Wren confirmed to appear in live-action in the upcoming Ahsoka, The Mandalorian season 3 could feature characters from even further across the wider franchise.
