Every Pierce Brosnan Horror Movie, Ranked Worst To Best

[ad_1]

Here’s every Pierce Brosnan Horror Movie, ranked worst to best. Brosnan starred his career with small roles in shows like Hammer’s House Of Horrors or The Long Good Friday in the early ’80s, with one of his earliest breakthroughs being the TV series Remington Steele. Ironically, this show nearly stole his biggest break, when Brosnan was almost cast as James Bond in 1987’s The Living Daylights.

Brosnan would have replaced Roger Moore, who had played 007 for seven movies. At the time, it appeared Remington Steele was going to be canceled, allowing Brosnan to take the part, but at the last moment it was renewed and the role went to Timothy Dalton. Of course, Brosnan eventually got his chance with 1995’s GoldenEye. Outside of Bond, Brosnan has plenty of other successes, including The Thomas Crown Affair and Dante’s Peak.

The actor is busy as he ever was, and will appear alongside Dwayne Johnson in the upcoming superhero movie Black Adam. While he doesn’t have many genre outings, here’s every Pierce Brosnan horror movie, ranked.

4. False Positive (2021)

False Positive should have a lot going for it, with the film being produced by genre powerhouse A24 and a cast that includes Ilana Glazer – who also co-wrote – Justin Theroux and Brosnan. The film is a clear riff on Rosemary’s Baby – which has a little-seen sequel – but despite its brief runtime, it’s an unsatisfying mix of psychological chiller and dark comedy. Sadly, False Positive is lacking both scares and laughs and Brosnan is having hammy fun as a creepy doctor, but the film just doesn’t work.

3. The Lawnmower Man (1992)

The Lawnmower Man might be based on a short story by Stephen King, but the resulting film has little to no connection to it. In fact, the author sued the production company to have his name removed from the movie, which involves Brosnan’s ambitious doctor attempting to use virtual reality and experimental drugs to turn Jeff Fahey’s “simple” gardener into a genius; he accidentally creates a Cybergod who threatens the world instead. The Lawnmower Man – which has a strange ending – is very dated and cheesy, especially its then-groundbreaking CGI effects. That said, there is a retro charm to it, and it’s never dull.

2. Nomads (1986)

Nomads was Brosnan’s first movie as a leading man, and also the directorial debut of Die Hard’s John McTiernan. The film is a stylish, moody but tonally confused horror thriller, where Brosnan and his doctor (Lesley-Anne Down) are haunted by the living embodiments of evil Inuit spirits. When it works, the film is an eerie mood piece, but like The Lawnmower Man elements of it have aged badly. Still, when it works, Nomads is an intriguing horror tale.

1. Mars Attacks! (1996)

The final Pierce Brosnan Horror Movie is Tim Burton’s all-star comedy Mars Attacks! Based on the gleefully gory Topps card series, Burton’s horror-comedy is a loving tribute to old b-movies that takes delight in knocking off A-listers such as Jack Nicholson – who often dies in Burton’s movies – Danny DeVito and Glenn Close. In truth, Mars Attacks! is much more of a comedy than a horror flick, but it’s an agreeably silly one, while Brosnan’s turn shows he’s very much in on the gag.
