Every Version Of Kang In The Post-Credits Scenes

As seen in Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Kang and his variants have arrived in the MCU as the next big threat to the multiverse.

This post contains SPOILERS for Ant-Man and the Wasp: QuantumaniaAlthough Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror officially makes his debut in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, several of his variants from the comics have come to the MCU as well in the post-credit scenes. Originally introduced as He Who Remains in Marvel’s Loki, the breaking of the Sacred Timeline has brought forth all these different versions of Kang, the time-traveling despot who’s laid waste to entire universes and trillions of lives in his multiversal conquest. However, it’s already been proven that Kang’s primary rivals aren’t heroes like the Avengers.

In both of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s end-credits scenes, countless versions of Kang (aka Nathaniel Richards) are revealed. However, four in particular bear strong resemblances to variants from the original Marvel Comics. In the first scene, three of the variants discuss Ant-Man and Wasp’s defeat of the Kang variant they exiled to the Quantum Realm. Likewise, the second features another important Kang variant who’s being set up for Loki season 2. Here are the identities of every known variant featured in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (beyond the movie’s main Kang).

Immortus, The Once and Future Kang

Presented as the de facto leader of the trio seen in the first post-credits scene, Immortus is the bearded Kang with the large hat and blue skin. Voicing his concerns about the exiled Kang’s demise in the Quantum Realm, Immortus confirms that the heroes of Earth-616 have begun to touch the multiverse. As such, it’s revealed that he’s summoned all the different Kang variants that exist in the grand multiverse.

In the original comics, Immortus is the oldest version of Kang, the man Kang will become in his own future. A ruler of the realm known as Limbo which is similarly outside of time and space like the Quantum Realm, Immortus eventually comes to realize just how much of a threat his younger self poses to the timestream and has actively worked to hinder Kang’s schemes. He’s even worked with the Avengers at times as an uneasy ally. Likewise, Immortus came to work for the Time-Keepers, though the MCU has altered that dynamic as seen in Loki with He Who Remains having created the Time-Keepers to run the Time Variance Authority.

Rama-Tut, The Ancient Egyptian Pharaoh

The variant of Kang wearing the clothes of an Egyptian pharaoh is unmistakably Rama-Tut. In the original comics, Rama-Tut was a version of Kang who went back into the past to conquer Ancient Egypt. He’s also the first version of Kang the Fantastic Four ever countered when they similarly time-traveled back to the past. Rama-Tut also had encounters with a young En Sabah Nur, a powerful mutant who became the major X-Men villain Apocalypse as well as the Egyptian moon god Khonshu. Additionally, a handful of Easter eggs in the MCU helped confirm this version of Kang the Conqueror was teased in Moon Knight.

Kang Prime Or Scarlet Centurion: Who Is The 3rd Kang Variant In The Mid-Credits?

Despite having an absence of the color red, the third Kang who meets with Immortus and Rama-Tut in Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania is potentially the variant known as the Scarlet Centurion. The tubes on the head and shoulders are a notable part of the comics’ version as well. A new moniker and look Kang claimed after being run out of Egypt as Rama-Tut by a collection of heroes alongside Apocalypse and Khonshu, the Scarlet Centurion is inspired by Doctor Doom who is allegedly one of Kang’s ancestors. The Scarlet Centurion is also more futuristic in his style and weaponry while also wielding hypnotic devices used to influence his foes.

It’s also possible that this third Kang could be another notable variant like Kang Prime, a more classic version of Kang who emerged following the Scarlet Centurion identity. Kang Prime was also the first to fall in love with the comics’ version of Ravonna Renslayer (whose MCU counterpart will likely meet a version of Kang as well). However, it’s unclear if the Kang exiled to the Quantum Realm was meant to be the MCU’s Kang Prime instead.

Council of Kangs Perfectly Recreated From Marvel Comics

There are far too many versions of Kang to count or identify among the army of variants revealed in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s first post-credits scene. Arriving at the summons of Immortus, Kangs of all shapes and sizes appear in a massive amphitheater ringed with massive statues of Kang the Conqueror himself. As such, it stands to reason that they’ve all assembled either in Immortus’ realm of Limbo or the Chronopolis, Kang’s traditional base of operations in the comics from which he monitors his timeline-spanning empire and various conquests.

It’s also worth noting that the final shot of all the Kangs in the stands yelling and cheering is a direct recreation of a page from Marvel Comics. Seen in 1988’s Avengers #292 from Walt Simonson and John Buscema, Kang Prime is introduced to the Council of Kangs where “a vast amphitheater rocks with thunderous applause”. As such, it looks as though the Council of Kangs will become a major threat to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes when Avengers: The Kang Dynasty comes to theaters in 2025.

Victor Timely Will Encounter Loki and Agent Mobius

Last but not least, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s ending features one of Kang’s most interesting variants named Victor Timely. Having gone back to the early 20th century to better conquer the 21st in the comics, Kang as Victor Timely founded the town of Timely and became its mayor, using his time-travel technology to create a massive manufacturing empire based in robotics.

In the MCU, it looks as though the Victor Timely variant will play a major role in Loki season 2. In the second post-credits scene, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Owen Wilson’s Agent Mobius are in attendance as Victor presents his technology to a crowd of attendees in what appears to be the early 20th century as well. Following the end of Loki’s first season, the God of Mischief is well aware of Kang’s power and the danger his variants pose after his own variant Sylvie unleashed them all after breaking the Sacred Timeline. Now, it looks as though Loki season 2 will pick up with Kang where Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has left off.
