Final Fantasy XIV’s Endwalker Expansion Delayed Until Early December

[ad_1]

Final Fantasy XIV developer and publisher Square Enix announced the online game’s upcoming Endwalker expansion has been delayed to early December.

Final Fantasy XIV’s Endwalker expansion – originally slated to release later this month – has been delayed until early December. The game’s latest expansion is expected to be its biggest yet. Not only is it introducing new job classes, new raids, and more; Endwalker also concludes the game’s current story, which began during its original launch back in 2010.

The long-running MMORPG from Square Enix is now over 10 years old and recent reports reveal it has become – in spite of its troubled launch – the most profitable Final Fantasy game in series history. The game even saw a surge in interest over the past year, with many new players jumping into the game (as well as older ones returning) due to the upcoming release of its next expansion.

Square Enix announced the delay in a new blog post, as well as the game’s most recent livestream with producer and director Naoki Yoshida. According to the announcement, the release of Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker has been moved two weeks past its original release date of November 23. The expansion is now set to arrive on December 7. In addition to apologizing to fans and taking responsibility for the delay, Yoshida explained that the change in release is intended to give the studio ample time to ensure the new expansion is stable. He also added that – due to the amount of time spent to make sure that the expansion’s story would be the best it could be – the development team ended up cutting into the time meant for its final quality assurance checks.

The change in release date also means a shift in the new expansion’s early access schedule for those who pre-ordered it. Early access will now begin on December 3, 2021. Square Enix also announced the rollout dates of Endwalker’s first two post-launch updates. Patch 6.01 will be released on December 21, 2021, while Patch 6.05 will come out next year on January 4, 2022. Patch 6.01 will introduce Endwalker’s first raid, Pandaemonium, while Patch 6.05 adds the raid’s Savage difficulty as well as the FFXIV: Endwalker’s new Allagan Tomestones and the corresponding gear players will be able to purchase with them.

Announcing the delay of Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker a little over two weeks before it’s original release date is definitely surprising news. Fortunately, fans and players will only have to wait an extra two weeks before they can finally experience the game’s largest expansion to date. It also gives other players more time to plan and get ready for Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker.
