Fire Emblem Engage: 10 Strongest Units, Ranked

[ad_1]

With Fire Emblem Engage‘s release comes a brand-new batch of impressively strong heroes added to the vast Fire Emblem franchise, but some have proven themselves to be significantly stronger than others. As players fill the shoes of the Divine Dragon Alear, who has just awoken from a 1,000-year slumber, they are tasked with collecting 12 unique Emblem Rings in order to reinstate peace over the five realms within the continent of Elyos.

The tactical role-playing game sets itself apart by including the Emblem Rings, which allow characters to possess a certain skill from Lords like Marth and Sigurd. In turn, this change to Fire Emblem lets engaged rings influence units to become extremely valuable on the battlefield, especially when their base stats are already powerful. When engaging Roy’s Emblem, Diamant becomes capable of surviving most altercations and does additional damage to foes adjacent to his initial target. However, he isn’t the only character with a skill set that is complimented perfectly by an Emblem Lord. Knowing this, out of the 36 playable units in Engage, these are the greatest ones to utilize.

10 Chloe

As one of the best fliers in the game and a seasoned royal pegasus knight of Firene, Chloe’s skills are nothing to underestimate, especially if she is upgraded into Fire Emblem Engage‘s best Griffin Knight. In this class, she is able to maximize her already great movement and attack quickly. This is even more true when she is paired with Sigurd, who not only grants her amazing area coverage, but allows her to move again after attacking.

With her exclusive skill, Fairy-Tale Folk, she can deal +2 damage during combat, given she is adjacent to both male and female characters. When Breaking foes, Chloe’s Break Defenses skill makes an extra attack at 50 percent damage, while Lance Power 5 sharply increases her damage output. Lastly, Divine Pulse provides her with a chance to turn a missed attack into a hit.

9 Alfred

Alfred Fire Emblem Engage

A great addition to any frontline, Alfred has nice bulk in his Strength and Defense. Not only can he dish out a lot of damage at once, but Alfred gains a generous amount of speed when paired with Sigurd, who is debatably the most universally compatible Emblem Ring in Fire Emblem Engage. Sigurd also increases Alfred’s Strength and, of course, his already considerable mobility.

These stats are only advanced further by his Golden Lotus skill, which is unlocked when upgraded to the Avenir class and can prevent 50 percent of physical damage taken, along with Lance Power 5. But what he lacks in resistance to magic, he makes up for with his evasiveness and movement, getting him out of sticky situations. Alfred’s Momentum+ skill makes him all the more formidable, giving him an extra Attack point for each space he moves before combat is initiated.

8 Anna

Anna Fire Emblem Engage

Something of a chameleon when it comes to class changes in Fire Emblem Engage, Anna begins as an Axe Fighter, but can be even more viable as a Mage or Healer. This is because of her generous Magic and Speed, comparable to powerhouses like Alear. Anna works best alongside Celica, who allows her to do more damage with Echo and Warp Ragnarok, covering a large amount of space while doing greater magical damage.

Anna’s profound Speedtaker skill can grant her a stacking +2 Speed every time she initiates combat and slays a foe. The skill and her profound speed also make her a perfect candidate for Alacrity++ and Perceptive+. Alacrity++ makes her follow-up attacks come out before the enemy can act, and Perceptive+ lets her avoid most attacks.

7 Ivy

Ivy Fire Emblem Engage

A master of magical skills, Ivy is arguably the best Mage in the game, but surprisingly not because she has a high Magic stat. In fact, her Defense, Resistance, and Speed stats are far more impressive. When promoted to the Lindwurm class in Engage, she will be given access to Grasping Void, which has the chance to deal extra damage equal to half her enemy’s Magic stat.

Ivy’s exclusive skill, Single-Minded, grants her +20 Hit when repeating combat with a specific foe and makes her a total nuke. On top of this, she rides a Wyvern, giving her better evasiveness than other Mages. Corrin’s Draconic Hex skill, inflicting -4 to each of her foe’s base stats, combined with Celica’s Echo skill opens the way for Ivy to nearly guarantee a kill every two turns.

6 Hortensia

Hortensia Fire Emblem Engage

Hortensia is not just a reliable Mage but also a valuable healer, since her learnable Silence Ward skill will protect allies and herself from falling victim to Silence staffs, which prevent enemies from utilizing staves and tomes for a turn. One of Fire Emblem‘s best protagonists, Micaiah, works perfectly in tandem with Hortensia. Micaiah’s Augment skill will allow for +5 staff range, while Great Sacrifice can be used to lend a junk of Hortensia’s HP to a unit in need.

Furthermore, her exclusive Big Personality skill grants all staff users one extra movement range. Because she is a flying unit, Hortensia can greatly support her allies while staying safe herself. This is especially true with the Healing Light skill, regaining her HP equal to half of the amount she heals an ally.

5 Kagetsu

Kagetsu Fire Emblem Engage (2)

Ivy’s retainer, Kagetsu, is not to be underestimated in battle. Using his Binding Flash skill, Kagetsu makes it highly difficult for enemies to evade his attacks. With a largely notable Speed stat, he is capable of dodging most of his foe’s offenses. Unlocking his new Swordmaster class will go even further, letting him land extra critical hits.

As if that wasn’t enough, Kagetsu’s awesome stat growths make him useful both offensively and defensively. When partnered with Lyn or Marth, his Speed stat and evasiveness are taken to a whole other level. Running similar skills as Anna like Alacrity++, Perceptive, and Speedtaker make Kagetsu a serious force to be reckoned with in player phases.

4 Veyle

Veyle Fire Emblem Engage

Veyle is a bit of a glass canon in Engage since her Defense stat is relatively low despite having high Magic, Resistance, and HP stats. Fortunately for the heartfelt and wise woman, that doesn’t mean she isn’t worth getting a Master Seal for. Utilized best as a Magic user, the Dragon unit is built for Tomes. However, her exclusive Fell Protection skill has Defensive value as well, allowing allies to take a few less damage per attack while also providing them an extra damage point.

The Fell Child class is the top pick for Veyle, which helps fill her Engage Meter by 1 at the beginning of each turn. Inheriting skills like Tome Precision 5, which gives her Hit/Avo+15 when using a tome, is good for going on the offensive. Corrin is a powerful choice for Veyvle, since she can not only inherit Quality Time+, which increases her range and restores 10 HP to adjacent allies but also can run Draconic Hex to inflict -4 to all of her foe’s base stats after combat.

3 Seadall

Seadall Fire Emblem Engage

Seadall, the fortune-teller unlocked in Fire Emblem Engage, is a Dancer unit with insanely high Speed that makes him the best unit at evading attacks and giving his allies another action. When combining this overpowered stat with Avoid +30 and Unyielding++, which restores 40 percent of his HP when his HP is at 40 percent or below, he becomes practically immortal. Curious Dance, his exclusive skill, even lets allies within a couple spaces regain 10 percent of their HP.

By giving Seadall access to Dual Assist and Dual Support, allowing him to land Chain Attacks as well as increasing his evasiveness even more, Lucina is an expected fit for him. On the other hand, running a healing build on him with Corrin and her inheritable Quality Time skill is a close second. Pair Up is also a great fit for focusing on healing since it prevents damage from enemy Chain Attacks.

2 Diamant

Diamant Fire Emblem Engage

When it comes to tanking, Diamant is absolutely incredible, making battles in Fire Emblem Engage look easy. He is able to counterattack foes while dealing double the damage that was done to him using the Hold Out+++ and Wrath skills. His exclusive skill, Fair Fight, gives him the edge over the enemy by granting +15 to himself and his foe. This will break down the enemy’s defenses and interrupt movement easily.

The Successeur class takes him to even higher heights, considering his already massive Defense and HP stats. When using Roy’s Emblem Ring in battle, Diamant has as much damage output as survivability, making him perfect as a frontline unit. While Wrath nurtures his Crit the more HP he loses, Hold Out+++ keeps him alive continuously. Alternatively, Ike and his Laguz Friend skill will split damage taken right in half, making him fortified to the max.

1 Alear

Alear male and female - Fire Emblem Engage.

As the most balanced character, Alear can adapt to almost any situation with both defensive and offensive value, since they can inherit tons of skills in Fire Emblem Engage. Having multiple combative skills that get the job done on the battlefield, the Dragon Child can use Hold Out+++ and Unyielding++ to stay alive indefinitely. Sword Power 5 gives them a damage boost.

Since their Speed and Dexterity are high, they function well as an evasive tank, used best when upgraded to the Divine Dragon class. As was to be expected, Marth’s Emblem Ring is the best pick for Alear, maximizing their Speed and Avoid while giving them that much more evasiveness with Perceptive+. Marth’s Divine Speed skill gives Alear an extra attack at 50 percent damage, while also helping them recover their HP equal to the damage dealt by this extra attack. Additionally, Lodestar Rush gifts Alear with a whopping seven consecutive sword attacks at 30 percent damage.
