Grinding for extra level experience should be nothing new for players of Fire Emblem Engage, but unlocking the Tempest Trials opens up a new set of challenges that lead to even greater rewards on top of XP used to advance unit stats to a higher caliber. Unlike the Tower of Trials, players who participate in Tempest Trials must choose the layout of a map before battling three distinct battles without respite in between against powerful AI-controlled enemies. Although a slightly longer task to overcome, especially on higher difficulties, players that overcome these opponents have a chance to earn Crystals and other important materials.

The Tempest Trials are found in the Somniel after players complete Chapter 11: Retreat in the narrative, which concludes with the recruitment of units Zelkov, Ivy, and Kagetsu. These unique scenarios may be utilized in the Tower of Trials immediately after the Divine Dragons flee through the Elusian forest and finish the last battle of that story section. Players have an unlimited number of attempts for Tempest Trials to not only gain materials for weapon upgrades in Fire Emblem Engage but also plenty of experience for low and high-level units alike.

How To Use Tempest Trials For Rewards in Fire Emblem Engage

As one might expect, the higher the difficulty selected for a Tempest Trial, the better the rewards are for players who defeat their challenges. The levels of hardship range from 1-50, which players are recommended to progress through slowly to acclimate themselves to the flow of battle presented in this mode. The tough enemies found in Tempest Trials at the highest level are capable of wiping out even entire teams that have completed the story, so it is best to work through the low to mid-range trials before these endgame equivalents.

Players looking to promote their units in Fire Emblem Engage have a better chance of doing so through Tempest Trials despite the limited maps available when first unlocked. Clearing the campaign guarantees players access to every map seen before, as players can use postgame items and upgrades in this space. Even when playing with permadeath on, units that perish during Tempest Trials revive upon the player’s victory or defeat. Key items function the same way, restoring to the player’s inventory at the end of the Tempest Trial, incentivizing players to unlock it even more as they progress through Fire Emblem Engage‘s story.
