Gambit and Rogue are the X-Men’s best couple and now they are even better with a little help from Spider-Man’s powers in new Marvel art.

When it comes to Marvel couples, few are more well known than the X-Men Gambit and Rogue, and now these star-crossed mutants are receiving a different kind of love in the form of a new Spider-Man variant cover. Debuting for the return of the Spider-Verse, fans are given a glimpse into a world where the duo have been bitten by more than just a love bug.

One of the best superhero couples, Gambit and Rogue now find themselves spinning their web of love quite literally on the cover of Rogue & Gambit #3 with the newly released Spider-Verse variant cover by Ema Lupacchino. As they hurtle through the city sky, both of them are dressed in a variant of their classic costumes, except their skin-tight spandex are now adorned with web patterns and each wears a full Spider-Man face mask. Gambit has his wrist extended and is shooting webs that seem to be charged with his mutant kinetic energy power. As they fall, charged webbed playing cards cascade down around them.

Rogue & Gambit Swing Into The Spider-Verse

Rogue and Gambit Spider-Verse

Remy LeBeue met Anna Marie in X-Men #4, by John Byrne and Jim Lee, but it was complicated from the beginning. Rogue’s powers meant she was doomed to never feel the touch of another, which means that Gambit’s feelings were effectively unrequited. However, the Cajun gambler played his hand and the two eventually found a way to make it work. Their romance culminated in X-Men Gold #30 by Marc Guggenheim and David Marquez, when the two were finally married. Then it was taken to the next level after Rogue finally learned to control her powers and touch her husband for the first time. Now the fan-favorite couple are starring in a brand-new series by Stephanie Phillips and Carlos Gomez, and there’s no better way to celebrate than with an awesome Spider-Verse variant cover.

Marvel Comics recently released a slew of cover previews for upcoming titles, including Moon Knight, Ghost Rider, and Rogue & Gambit. The covers were created to celebrate the Spider-Verse, which first began with 2014’s Amazing Spider-Man #9 by Dan Slott and Olivier Coipel. Now, it is returning to Marvel with this May’s Edge of the Spider-Verse anthology limited series that will introduce new Spider-People and all new stories.

These Spider-Man upgrades for two of the X-Men’s best members are just plain cool and open up all new realms for each character. As demonstrated in the artwork, Remy would be able to actually charge his webbing as he does with his playing cards, and one can imagine how much better of a staff fighter Gambit would be with a spider-sense. As for Rogue, she could literally trap her victims in a real-life web before draining them of their energy, much like a real spider.

Whatever sort of cool and possibilities these Spider-Verse enhancements would bring to the two mutant lovers, the one thing that is certain is that they would experience it together. Rogue and Gambit are one of the strongest couples in Marvel and like Spider-Man after he was bitten by a radioactive spider, their strength together would only grow.
