[ad_1]

Logan Huntzberger is one of three Gilmore Girls men who try to win Rory over. He and Rory embark on a somewhat mature romance after meeting at Yale and, even though she grew up with her mom’s words in her ear that the rich aren’t better than other people, Rory is interested in Logan and seems to be relaxed about his wealthy lifestyle.

Among the three men that try to woo Rory, some fans are firmly on Team Logan. But despite how charming this character can be, there are a lot of things about his life that are totally tragic. From his dad to his relationships and career, Logan isn’t doing very well, no matter which season fans are watching.

Updated on September 24th, 2021, by Lynn Gibbs: Logan Huntzberger is Rory Gilmore’s most serious relationship. While some fans may be Team Dean or Team Jess, it’s Logan that Rory is most serious with and has a continued relationship with in reboot, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. The two grew together, learned from each other, and made each other better in a lot of ways. However, as perky and good-natured as Rory is, Logan is the opposite. Logan tends to be cynical and a little guarded — and that’s largely in part to his backstory. Logan has been through plenty of sad things throughout Gilmore Girls that other characters can’t compare with.

12 Rory Broke His Heart At The Graduation Party (And Graduation)

Fans were shocked when Logan proposed to Rory at her graduation party. With both of them being so young and aspirational with their dreams, settling down seemed like the opposite of their goals. And while Lorelai gave Logan her blessing, Rory did not.

Logan proposed to Rory in front of her friends and family and waited for her answer. Understandably, Rory was shocked and nervous. She wasn’t ready to settle down, nor was she willing to share this big moment with so many people. Logan left sad that night as Rory had to think about her decision. When her graduation day rolled around, Rory finally told Logan that while she loved him, she couldn’t marry him. Her reasons were justifiable but that didn’t make it any less of a sad occasion for the both of them.

11 Lorelai Never Gave Him The Benefit Of The Doubt

In Lorelai’s mind, nothing good came from Rory’s relationship with Logan. Lorelai saw her daughter heartbroken, crying, and questioning her future more than ever before. So when Rory and Logan were finally on the same page and doing well, Lorelai still had that “bad boy” image of Logan in her mind.

No matter how many times Logan tried showing Lorelai how different of a person he was now than when she first met him, Lorelai never fully came around to liking him. This was sad for Logan because he knew the only way to get closer to Rory was to become close to Rory’s mom too.

10 His Family Doesn’t Love Him And He Gets Expelled From Schools

Logan doesn’t have a sparkling academic record. Despite his wealth and attending Yale, he got expelled from several schools, as he couldn’t stop making trouble. His troubling upbringing led to his immaturity years later when he meets Rory.

In contrast, he also doesn’t come from the same kind of family that Rory does. Logan’s parents may still be together, but they’re hanging by a thread, as his dad, Mitchum, is cruel and cold towards his family. Logan never feels love or affection from his family, which affects how he treats others at times.

9 His Dad Makes Him Move To London

In season 7, Logan warns Rory that his dad set up a job for him in London and that he would have to go. However, Logan did everything he could to ignore his father and this potential job because he liked the way his life was going in Connecticut. But lo and behold, his dad found Logan and shipped him off to London.

Whenever Logan’s dad calls, Logan has no choice but to answer. As he learns to stand up for himself, he soon becomes his own person. It’s actually because of his soulmate connection with Rory that Logan learns to have his own power. Yet still, it’s unfortunate that Logan allows himself to be bossed around by Mitchum and that he is so miserable as a result. As time goes on, this dynamic between the two doesn’t seem to change, which means Logan is continuously living by his dad’s rules.

8 Logan Messes Up In London And Loses Everything

There are moments when Logan is not a nice guy, but he also has moments that show a softer side to him. When he goes to London for work, he ends up finding his stride and enjoying work. But when he tries to buy another company, he made an error in judgment and went under. He bet most of his own money and his father’s money on this company and it failed. This had a lasting effect on Logan because he hurt so many people.

With Rory by his side trying to help him, Logan felt like he lost everything. He was ashamed of his impromptu business decision. And what’s worse is that he isolates himself and waited too long to tell Rory what happened.

7 Logan Handled His Break With Rory Horribly

As great of a couple as Logan and Rory are, they had their downfalls too. One of their worst fights was when Logan met Rory’s friend and ex-boyfriend, Jess, for the first time. Logan treated him poorly and ruined the night. His behavior made Rory rethink their relationship and she told everyone that they were on a break.

The break didn’t last long though and the two got back together. But when Rory found out that Logan slept with multiple women, their views on their break shifted. In Logan’s mind, they were broken up. But to Rory, they were on a break. Seeing how much his wandering eye affected Rory was hard on him and on their relationship. Rightfully so, fans were sadder for Rory when this happened but it was a sad situation all around.

6 Logan Always Felt Pressured To Grow Up Fast And Match His Dad’s Success

By the end of the series, Logan gets a job in California and begs Rory to move to the West Coast with him. Rory denies his plea and stays on the East Coast to look for jobs. That was the last fans saw of Logan for some time. But in the reboot, A Year in the Life, fans felt that Logan’s ending could have been better. As it turns out, Logan moved from California to London and was living an incredibly successful life there. But was he happy?

It appeared like Logan never lived up to his potential, which is one of the worst things that can be said about someone of his character. After dating Rory for so many years, who is incredibly ambitious and intelligent, her drive inspired him but he didn’t seem any happier than when she left his side at Yale’s graduation.

5 His Dedication To The Life And Death Brigade Nearly Killed Him

It’s an unpopular opinion to enjoy Logan’s secret society at Yale, the Life and Death Brigade. Although Logan and the group members were close friends, nothing good ever came from their meetings.

The group performs dangerous stunts that land them in dangerous positions. Logan gets hurt during a stunt where he had to be helicoptered to the hospital and, while he only broke a few ribs, it could have easily been worse. It’s sad that Logan thinks that he has to constantly seek out adventure and adrenaline rushes just to feel like he has a smidge of independence.

4 He Watches His Dad Crush Rory’s Goals And Dreams

Rory may be smart and studious but there are times when she’s her own worst enemy. She loathes entitlement (although she’s entitled), she’s hypocritical when it comes to relationships, and she can be soft when it comes to criticism — which is where Mitchum Huntzberger comes in.

After interning for Mitchum, he told her very bluntly that she didn’t have what it took to be a journalist. The news crushed Rory and she ran to Logan for comfort. Logan watched his dad hurt Rory’s dreams, and there was nothing he could do about it, which was the saddest part. He didn’t want his father to belittle his girlfriend but he also had no say in the matter.

3 He’s In Love With A Woman Who Is Not Accepted By His Family

When Rory or Lorelai have brought a date to the Gilmore house, that decision often results in awkward and terrible Friday night dinners. This is mainly because Rory’s grandparents, Richard and Emily, are incredibly judgemental and don’t approve of those that date Rory or Lorelai. So when it was time for Rory to go to someone else’s home for dinner, she was excited to converse and learn more about Logan’s family. Sadly, that’s not how it went.

Logan’s family was incredibly cold to Rory and made her feel not good enough for the Huntzberger name. Rory felt sick about not fitting in with her boyfriend’s family, and as it turned out, Logan felt just as ill. He hated how his family treated Rory and tried protecting her from them the best he could. As sad as it was for Rory, it was also sad for Logan because it was his family doing wrong.

2 Logan Is Torn Between His Fiance & His Longtime Love In The Reboot

Fans were shocked when they found out that Rory and Logan were still in contact with one another in A Year in the Life. Not only did they still call each other, but they were still sleeping with each other. To make things even more scandalous, Logan was actually engaged to an heiress named Odette.

With the two of them sleeping together, fans still have unanswered questions about the reboot regarding Rory’s surprise pregnancy. If the baby is Logan’s, he’ll have an upsetting decision to make. Does he choose his fiance or his longtime love, Rory? While Logan is responsible for his own decisions, it’s still a tough spot to be in.

1 He’s Stuck In A Profession He Hates Because Of Family Pressure

While the revival has some sweet and moving lines between Rory and Logan, their future is anything but a fairytale. Logan is stuck in a job that he most likely was pressured into. It seems like Logan has never been able to spread his wings and do what he wanted to do because of his family name.

Not living his full truth is one of the saddest parts about Logan, and it’s something that only he can fix. On the other hand, his hot-and-cold relationship with his family and his job was one of the more realistic storylines throughout Gilmore Girls.
