Goku’s Brother Finally Goes Super Saiyan In Dragon Ball Fan Animation

Raditz wasn’t long for the world of Dragon Ball, and in this new fan animation, he shows off a power he never achieved in canon: going Super Saiyan!

In the popular anime and manga world of Dragon Ball, Goku’s biological brother, Raditz, only lasted a short while before he was taken down by the joint efforts of Goku and Piccolo, with this new fan animation showing off what Raditz would’ve looked like if he’d been able to ascend to the Super Saiyan level before he died!

Dragon Ball’s Raditz Transforms Into A Super Saiyan In Fan Animation

Dragon Ball Z, Raditz meets Goku

A Dragon Ball character introduced at the beginning of Dragon Ball Z, Raditz getting beat by his brother, Kakarot, and Goku’s one-time rival, Piccolo, solidified him as a worthy and powerful adversary in the early episodes of the series and set the tone for the ridiculous fights to come, yet ultimately was a villain that never realized his full potential before biting the big one. And now, with this epic fan animation giving him what he could never achieve in life, Raditz’s untapped potential as a Saiyan is unleashed in a way that looks like it could have been lifted right from the Dragon Ball anime itself!

Starting the clip off with Raditz keeled over while he strains to raise his power levels to heights unreached by him before, it’s immediately apparent how close @JsCandyHell’s art style is to Dragon Ball’s iconic manga and anime look. Drawing Raditz letting loose a scream as he flashes his energy to transform into a Super Saiyan proper, @JsCandyHell cuts away to a high angle showing Raditz as he continues to power up, his glowing golden aura and yellow hair blowing out all around him. Cutting back to a closeup of Raditz’s eye, @JsCandyHell fades a red pupil into view — not the usual greenish blue hue Super Saiyans are known for — and finishes things off by animating Raditz’s considerable amount of muscle bulk up even further, all the while he stares at the camera with purpose, rippling with energy and electricity and looking by default like Goku’s Super Saiyan 3 form thanks to his already long and spiky hair.

But that’s not all. Fans looking for a little added flair to this post can scroll through @JsCandyHell’s feed to see the comments of fellow Dragon Ball nerds that have layered in the series’ iconic audio sound effects — power-up screams and all — to make this clip even better! So while Raditz will never get a real Super Saiyan upgrade, creative talents like @JsCandyHell can pick up the slack by dreaming up scenarios fans have always wanted to see play out in Dragon Ball canon, with this stunning fanart animation standing out as one of the best!
