Green Lantern’s Ultimate Feat Proves There’s No Limit on His Power

[ad_1]

Forget constructs and flight. The Final Night #4 shows off Green Lantern’s true power and shows there is nothing he can’t accomplish.

The Green Lanterns have repeatedly shown that with high levels of willpower they can always eke out a win over their enemies. But Hal Jordan’s greatest achievement shows that with enough determination, there is virtually nothing that he can’t do.

Of all the lights in the Emotional Spectrum, the most stable, and strongest by far, is the Green Light of Willpower. The Guardians of the Universe harnessed the energy source and used it to found the greatest army in the DC Universe, the Green Lantern Corps. Armed with rings that channel the center light of the Emotional Spectrum, Green Lanterns who possess the ability to overcome fear and a powerful resolve can create constructs of anything they can imagine. Thanks to their Power Rings, the Corps has been keeping the entire universe safe for eons, with a handful of Earth-based Lanterns using their weapons to their fullest extent.

But one Green Lantern rose to a level of power that showed mere construct generation is but a fraction of what the members of the Corps could potentially achieve. In The Final Night #4 by Karl Kesel and Stuart Immonnen, a villain known as the Sun-Eater is plaguing the DC Universe, and the world’s greatest heroes are largely unable to stop it. The Sun-Eater has triggered a number of disasters on Earth as a result of extinguishing the Solar System’s sun. As the heroes of the world try their best to stop it, they all fail in their attempts. One hero by the name of Ferro Lad goes on a suicide mission to stop it, only to be saved by Parallax, aka the fallen Green Lantern Hal Jordan. Ferro Lad discovers that Jordan has stopped the passage of time to rescue the junior hero.

The Strongest Green Lantern Has True Godlike Power

Green Lantern Stops Time DC Comics

While Hal Jordan was operating as the villain Parallax, he was at the peak of his powers. He had taken on the full power of the Green Lantern Corps for himself and was one of the few people channeling the Green Light of Will. Much like the Green Lantern’s entity, Ion, Hal was capable of reshaping the universe to a limited degree and on par with the DCU’s most powerful characters. With that in mind, there’s really nothing a Green Lantern shouldn’t be capable of with enough determination.

The core of the Green Lantern’s amazing abilities is willpower. The greater will one possesses, the better they are at wielding a Power Ring. But in Hal’s case, he went above and beyond simple ring-slinging to the point he was in control of the entire universe. Granted, it came at the cost of the Corps, but that’s an amazing level of power that is still theoretically in his grasp. As powerful as heroes like the Flash or Superman are, even they have their limits on what they can do. But with enough determination, a Green Lantern has what it takes to turn all creation into their personal playground.
