Harley Quinn Confirms DC’s Future If Starro Had Won in Suicide Squad

[ad_1]

Harley and the Suicide Squad may have defeated Starro, but an alternate timeline shows the true damage the Conqueror could have caused.

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Multiversity: Harley Screws Up the DCU #1!Though Harley Quinn and the Suicide Squad were able to defeat the kaiju-sized Starro, a dark future shows just what would have happened had they failed. A time-traveling misadventure has revealed that Starro could seriously live up to its nickname as ‘the Conqueror’.

One of the first villains the Justice League ever fought to protect the earth was the oversized, starfish-like alien known as Starro the Conqueror. Hailing from the furthest reaches of the galaxy, Starro moves from planet to planet, sending out its numerous spores to take control of the minds of innocents. The villain’s true power was seen the last Suicide Squad movie, when it was able to take control of the entire island nation of Corto Maltese. The team was able to repel Starro’s attack, but its overwhelming size and ability to take force people into fighting for it shows how dangerous it truly is.

Harley Quinn Helped Starro Conquer the World

Starro Conquers the DC Universe

However, things could have gotten a lot worse had the Suicide Squad not successfully stopped Starro. In Multiversity: Harley Screws up the DCU #1 by Frank Tieri and Logan Faerber, the eponymous hero reunites with her gang of Harleys on Coney Island. But amid the reunion, the team discovers that Harley Quinn has been bequeathed a time machine. Thinking it nothing more than a novelty, Harley enters it and finds herself transported to an alternate timeline. Harley learns from a variant of herself that messing with the time machine has somehow gotten rid of the world’s greatest heroes. With no one to protect the Earth, the world fell almost immediately to the first villain to challenge the Earth: Starro the Conqueror, who has taken nearly everyone under control and remade the Earth in its image.

Starro might not be as known for its destruction like Darkseid or the Anti-Monitor, but it’s possibly the most powerful mind controller in the DC Universe. Others have even tried using Starro’s intense abilities for their own goals over the years, but thankfully the heroes have kept it at bay. However, in a world where there are no heroes, Starro easily took control of the planet and added it to its sinister hive mind. It’s a chilling reminder of what’s really at stake when groups the League or the Suicide Squad fight the giant, Lovecraftian nightmare.

Starro Could Take Control of the Entire DC Universe (And Beyond)

Starro the Conqueror DC Comics

The DCU would be a terrible place if there were no heroes, and there’s no shortage of villains eager to do it harm. But Starro the Conqueror could take control of the world with little effort without the Justice League or the Suicide Squad. And if Earth falls to Starro’s control, there’s nothing that would stop it from expanding beyond Earth. The League repeatedly stops calamities across the universe, but without them, Starro could take down everything in existence. Its insidious hive mind would spread until everything eventually falls under the control of its many spores. Fans can see more of what the world would have looked like had the Suicide Squad not succeeded in Multiversity: Harley Screws Up the DCU #1, on sale March 14th, 2023.
