Hogwarts Legacy: A Bird In The Hand Guide
In A Bird In The Hand, Hogwarts Legacy players must help Poppy Sweeting solve puzzles to find and protect a nest of Golden Snidgets from poachers.
A Bird In The Hand is one of the final quests Hogwarts Legacy a player can complete to help build their friendship with Hufflepuff student Poppy Sweeting. Passionate about protecting magical creatures, Poppy reaches out to the player for help with fighting poachers hunting down fantastic beasts all over Hogwarts valley. In A Bird In The Hand, Poppy and the player must join the centaur Dorran to track down and protect extremely rare Golden Snidgets, previously considered extinct.
To start A Bird In The Hand, the player needs to have used all the spells they have unlocked in Hogwarts Legacy to help Poppy free a dragon during the Fire and Vice main story quest. This opens Poppy’s relationship questline, where the player can help Poppy confront the poachers and build a steady friendship with her. During A Bird In The Hand, the player will receive a message from Poppy, asking them to meet her and Dorran south of Brocburrow to investigate a mysterious sanctuary where they suspect some Golden Snidgets are hidden.
How To Help Poppy Sweeting And Complete A Bird In The Hand
To start the quest properly, the player needs to travel to the spot marked on their map to meet Poppy and Dorran. After speaking to them, the player needs to find a way inside the ruins by solving a puzzle. Like Hogwarts Legacy’s Bell Tower puzzle, the solution is a bit simpler than it might seem. First, the player needs to place the moonstone on the pedestal, which causes two symbols on the Ruin entrance to glow. These symbols also appear on the ground near the two pillars with lights.
How To Solve The Pillar Puzzle
The player should use Accio to move both pillars around to solve this puzzle.
The shadows of the pillars should fall on the symbols that match the glowing symbols on the door.
On the ground opposite each pillar, the player can spot bronze needles which indicate where the pillar’s shadow is currently located. Next, rotate each pillar so its shadow falls on one of the symbols matching the ones on the door. Then, the door to the sanctuary should open.
The player should follow the path until they reach a dead end with an Elemental Cube Puzzle from one of Hogwarts Legacy’s Treasure Vaults. The first cube is behind the tree to the left. The player can use Wingardium Leviosa to move it onto the platform with the fire symbol, then use Incendio or Confringo to light it.
The second cube is up on the landing to the right. To get it, the player should use Wingardium Leviosa to move the block on the left to the right, then use it to climb up onto the second level to grab the cube. This cube should be placed on the other platform, and the player should cast Glacius to open the door.
The player and Poppy will have to battle a sudden poacher ambush inside. This can be a tough fight due to the number of enemies, but Hogwarts Legacy’s best spell combos and Ancient Magic should ensure the player emerges victorious. After the battle, the player can unlock the door to the Snidget Sanctuary by casting Glacius on it. After the following cutscene, the player will have helped Poppy ensure the Golden Snidgets are safe, completing Hogwarts Legacy’s A Bird In The Hand side quest.
