Hogwarts Legacy: Best Combat Plants To Grow First

Mandrake, Chinese Chomping Cabbages, and Venomous Tentacula, Combat Plants in Hogwarts Legacy, should be grown according to a player’s combat style.

Since there are only three Combat Plants in Hogwarts Legacy, the best to grow early are all of them. Having a stock of plants grants players the option to assess which plants they find themselves using the most in battle, and they can prioritize growing the plants they need afterward. To grow them, seeds must first be bought at Dogweed and Deathcap in Hogsmeade.

Unlike most other plants in Hogwarts Legacy, Combat Plants are usable without needing to be refined in any way, like through potions. The number of spells, combos, and offensive capabilities in Hogwarts Legacy allows players to find a fighting style that suits them best. Although some plants can be found through quests, the main supply of plants will be obtained through cultivating them in the Room of Requirements.

How To Use Combat Plants in Hogwarts Legacy

Featured in an iconic scene from the movie series, the Mandrakes in Hogwarts Legacy can be a key offensive option. Using a mandrake in combat functions as a crowd control action because it temporarily reduces the number of enemies currently focusing on attacking the player by paralyzing them. Mandrakes are useful in scenarios where enemies will potentially overwhelm the player.

The same plant is used as an ingredient in the Skele-Gro Potion, Chinese Chomping Cabbages, which can cause serious damage depending on a player’s Herbology skill. They can also be used as a distraction by forcing the targeted enemy to momentarily lose agro on the player, especially if they have low health. During this window, players can use Hogwarts Legacy‘s Wiggenweld Potions or, if out of potions, flee the fight and return when better prepared.

Venomous Tentacula are turrets that shoot acid and provide a source of consistent damage to enemies. In addition, they have a decent fire distance and can be helpful for the enemies players find difficult to fight at a closer range. Unlike the other combat plants, Venomous Tentacula require large pots for growing, but their growth time isn’t dramatically longer than either of the other two Combat Plants in Hogwarts Legacy.
