Hogwarts Legacy: How to Sell Unwanted Gear

The stats of certain gear in Hogwarts Legacy can become unwanted as players progress, leading them to sell those items for galleons at various shops.

Not every piece of Gear in Hogwarts Legacy may appeal to players, as progression to bigger and better items causes old outfits to become obsolete in every aspect except the currency gained from selling these pieces of equipment to various vendors. Despite the easy-to-understand transmog system in the game that allows players to transform their gear’s appearance to any previous cosmetic owned, there are really no reasons to keep old items beyond a certain point. Instead, players are encouraged to switch and sell their old gear quickly when they are factoring in the growing stats of new items and the prices of other powerful gear seen later in the story.

Players will likely find reasons to sell their gear after discovering Gladrags Wizardwear, a shop in Hogsmeade that periodically has a selection of gear that reflects the amount of completed main story missions. Higher-level gear is marked in gold and purple colors and remains stored through this vendor for absurdly high prices that players likely will want to sell old gear to afford. Although there are no options to store gear outside a player’s inventory until after they unlock the Room of Requirement, the amount of customization tied to transmoging newly bought clothes helps prevent an abundance of equipment instead of quest items in Hogwarts Legacy.

Where To Sell Unwanted Gear in Hogwarts Legacy

Every shop vendor in Hogwarts Legacy has the capability to buy back old gear in exchange for galleons, regardless of their profession. Scattered throughout the open world, vendors are very easy to find in Hogsmeade, the special town outside Hogwarts that players travel toward as part of the main narrative after their first Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts classes. The Hogsmeade map becomes much easier to travel toward when using a Broom or the Floo Powder Network, as both of these methods are far faster than walking the full distance to any vendor from the Hogwarts castle itself.

Simply pressing the right tab option when viewing any shop vendor’s wares, such as potion ingredients in Hogwarts Legacy, takes players to their own inventory to show their own items and the option to sell them. Pieces of equipment have distinct prices tied to them for sale, which, unfortunately, may be lower than the price they were bought for originally if purchased from shops beforehand. Unwanted gear in Hogwarts Legacy that players wish to sell helps build their funds toward far more important tools against the collection of enemies inevitably encountered that threaten the wizarding world.
