How To Deal With Diablo 2: Resurrected Enemy Elemental Resistances

[ad_1]

The enemies in Diablo 2: Resurrected have elemental resistance stats that can make them tough to defeat for certain characters with elemental attacks.

Editor’s Note: A lawsuit has been filed against Call of Duty publisher Activision Blizzard by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, which alleges the company has engaged in abuse, discrimination, and retaliation against its female employees. Activision Blizzard has denied the allegations. The full details of the Activision Blizzard lawsuit (content warning: rape, suicide, abuse, harassment) are being updated as new information becomes available.

Diablo 2: Resurrected has enemies that can resist elemental attacks making them highly difficult to defeat. Element-based attacks can come from skills or magical properties on gear and weapons. There are six types of resistance: fire, cold, poison, lightning, magic, and physical. However, magic and physical are not considered elemental.

Characters can also have resistance to elemental damage. There are gear and skill options, depending on the class, that can protect characters the same way enemies are protected from them. Having a strong resistance to multiple elements makes for a very powerful character. Close-combat classes, like the Paladin or Assassin, will need resistance in their gear, especially for bosses like Duriel in Diablo 2: Resurrected.

Enemy resistance has to be dealt with in specific ways that can make the game very challenging, and even more so for those playing solo. Players have a few different options for negating resistance when it is below 100%, but once it becomes immunity (above 100%) then it’s much harder to break. Enemies in Hell difficulty will all have immunity to at least one element. This is especially an issue for elemental-based builds like the Frozen Orb Sorceress.

Lowering elemental resistance can be harder for some characters, especially the Sorceress. Classes that rely on elemental damage need to pay extra attention to enemy stats. Builds like the Summoner Necromancer in Diablo 2: Resurrected are good for dealing with these enemies because Bone spells and Curses don’t count as elemental. Using runes, gear, or skills that lower enemy resistance will also affect any enemy whose total resistance is less than 100%.

If an enemy has 100% or more in resistance, then they are completely immune to that type of damage. There are only two ways in Diablo 2: Resurrected to break immunity: the Paladin’s Conviction Aura or the Necromancer’s Lower Resist skill. Having one of the two classes in a player’s party will let them deal elemental damage to those that are typically immune to it. The only other option for immunity is to have a different type of damage in the character’s skill set or a backup weapon if the elemental damage is coming from that.

It can be very difficult to defeat enemies with elemental resistance, and even more so when they have immunity. Having a larger party gives players a better chance for lowering or eliminating an enemies resistance. Understanding how to combat these resistances is vital to completing the game on its hardest difficulty. Diablo 2: Resurrected features many quests, bosses, and puzzles that make the game enjoyably challenging.
