How to Find (& Catch) Scyther in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Eating the Master Marmalade Sandwich in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will greatly increase one’s chances of finding the Bug- and Fighting-type Scyther.
One of the most popular Bug- and Steel-type Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is Scizor, the evolved form of the inferior yet powerful Scyther. Trainers can evolve Scyther into Scizor using a special evolutionary item known as the Metal Coat. To get the Metal Coat, players can visit the Delibird Presents in Levincia and buy the item for ₽3,000. Unlike most Battle Items, the Metal Coat is exclusive to the coastal city of Levincia. Alternatively, players could wait patiently for the evolutionary item to become available for auction at Porto Marinada. However, the randomness of the Auction House might deter most from waiting out a sale.
Players can search in four specific locations to get the Bug- and Fighting-type Scyther in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The first is Area Four of the South Province, which is quite close to the starting city of Mesagoza. A Level 22 Tera Scyther can also be encountered on the northern side of Area Four, near the land bridge leading to South Province (Area Two). The second is a small plot of land in West Province (Area Three) by Cortondo.
Scyther’s Location in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
According to Game8, Scyther can also appear in the general region of Casseroya Lake in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The massive size of this zone makes it quite challenging to pinpoint an optimal spawn location of the Bug- and Fighting-type pocket monster. Finally, the fourth spot that players should search is in the North Province (Area Two), the same area where Trainers can find Fury Falls, one of the Ten Sights of the Paldea region. Out of these four locations where Scyther might spawn, checking the smaller and more enclosed areas will likely yield better results. Looking for Scyther at Casseroya Lake is comparable to finding a needle in a haystack.
Trainers can improve their chances of encountering Scyther in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet by eating Sandwiches that buff the Encounter Power for Bug- or Fighting-type pocket monsters. These meals include the Master Marmalade Sandwich, Great Pickle Sandwich, Master Variety Sandwich, or Sour Jambon-Beurre. The Master Marmalade Sandwich, in particular, is the best choice as it increases the Encounter of both Bug- or Fighting-type Pokémon by two stages. Once players have found a Wild Scyther in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, they can weaken it by using Fire-, Electric-, Ice-, Flying-, and Rock-type Movesets to subdue it quickly. Conversely, Trainers should avoid using Ground-, Grass-, Fighting-, or Bug-type Moves in Scarlet and Violet against Scyther, as the mantis-like beast renders such elemental attacks ineffective.
