How To Find & Celebrate Friends’ Birthdays On Snapchat

[ad_1]

Snapchat’s birthday mini used to make it incredibly easy to find friends’ birthdays on the app, but the feature works a bit differently now.

Snapchat is the social hub for so many people, but tracking a friend’s birthday isn’t easy. Admit it — there’s been a birthday or two that were only remembered because of social media. Whether it’s a reminder from Facebook, Twitter, or something else, it’s easy to rely on a social app to remember when John and Tammy’s birthdays are coming up.

For avid Snapchat users who find themselves forgetting important birthdays, the company used to make it incredibly easy to find this info right within Snapchat, but a new update has resulted in this feature being impacted. While Snapchat previously allowed users to use the Birthday mini to see a full overview of friends’ upcoming birthdays in chronological order, minis have now been removed from the app, which means finding a friend’s birthday works a bit differently now.

How To Find Friends’ Birthdays On Snapchat

Snapchat chat screen with cake emoji next to friend's name

Provided a user has enabled Birthday Party in Snapchat settings, a cake emoji will appear next to their name on their birthday. Users will be able to scroll through their friends list in the chat screen to find any birthdays for that particular day, but there isn’t currently a way to view a list of all upcoming birthdays, which is disappointing considering this feature was previously available.

Snapchat also provides a way to view a friend’s birth month, but this needs to be done individually for each user. To find this information, open the chat screen and tap on a friend’s Bitmoji avatar. Now, scroll down to the bottom of the screen to the ‘Charms‘ section and tap on it. A series of cards will appear on the screen. Swipe to the left until the ‘Friend’s Birthstone’ card appears. This will mention the friend’s birth month and their star sign.

It’s important to note that if a Snapchat user hasn’t enabled Birthday Party from their settings, their birthday won’t show up on the chat screen. That means Snapchat isn’t exactly a reliable way to find birthdays. Additionally, Snapchat only shows the day on which someone was born. It does not reveal their age or birth year — just the month and day.

Enable Birthday Party & Astrological Profile

To add a birthday to Snapchat, tap the Settings (gear) icon in the top-right corner of the Profile screen. Go to ‘My Account’ and tap ‘Birthday.’ Add a date and year and select ‘Okay’ to save it. This screen is also where a birthday can be updated. Snapchat users enable the toggle next to ‘Birthday Party’ to display a cake emoji next to their name on their birthday. This will also display their zodiac sign in their profile.

Once Birthday Party is enabled, friends will be able to view and share a user’s Astrological Profile and Compatibility. The Astrological Profile uses the birthday entered by the user to automatically assign their zodiac sign and reveal some key personality traits about them. Once this has been enabled, users will be able to go to a friend’s profile to view their Astrological Compatibility by clicking on the zodiac sign next to their name. However, this only works if both friends have the feature enabled on Snapchat.
