He believes that due to the prolific power of creator Dick Wolf, Law & Order: SVU will likely continue for a long time to come. Check out what Ice-T says below:

“I got on the show to do four episodes, and it just keeps on going. This year, we had one of the greatest ratings seasons ever. So, we haven’t been picked up for a 25th season, but you got Dick Wolf. I mean, Dick Wolf has six shows on NBC. So, we’re sitting pretty. We’ll be back for seasons 25, 26. I’m gonna stay on until the wheels fall off. Black people don’t jump off boats, especially when they’re still floating, you understand? We ain’t leaving.”

Ice-T’s jovial belief in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit‘s staying power underscores how its popularity may keep it on the air for many years. The show tackles many dark subjects from week to week while also bringing engaging characters that stick around for a lengthy appearance, such as Tutuola. Given Ice-T’s decision to stay on the series until the very end, it’s clear that he also enjoys being involved with the series production.

The show is just one part of the larger Law & Order universe, which includes Law & Order: Special Victims Unit alongside Law & Order: Organized Crime and a revived version of the original Law & Order. All three series have garnered millions of viewers for new episodes, indicating that none will conclude any time soon. While some actors may not be involved with the universe until each show ends, the franchise is no stranger to rotating casts of characters. This opens the door for Law & Order: Special Victims Unit to continue long after familiar faces in its roster have left the series.

Ice-T plans to remain on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit until its curtain call, though, which could be many more years of his acting career. If the the Law & Order franchise continues to see success in the future, Tutuola may be around well beyond Ice-T’s projected season 26. As of now, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit has a bright future ahead of it, made all the more potent by Ice-T’s enthusiasm to continue his role in the show.
