Is That The Real Allison In The Teen Wolf Movie? What The Trailer Reveals

[ad_1]

Allison Argent is returning in Teen Wolf: The Movie, but her real role in the revival movie is still unclear. Teen Wolf: The Movie is bringing back most of the old cast, including Tyler Posey as Scott McCall, Tyler Hoechlin as Derek Hale, and Shelley Hennig as Malia Tate, but one surprise casting announcement was the return of Crystal Reed as Allison Argent. Allison’s character died in Teen Wolf season 3 after Reed decided to leave the show to pursue other creative endeavors. But now, Allison is back, and the Teen Wolf: The Movie’s trailer leaves a lot of questions to be answered, specifically about how Allison has returned.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The trailer for Teen Wolf: The Movie shows the reunion of Scott and Allison years after her death. This is significant – Allison’s and Scott’s relationship was one of the most important of Teen Wolf’s entire run. Teen Wolf: The Movie is revisiting many story beats from Teen Wolf season 3 and bringing back the villain, the Nogitsune. It now seems definite that the Nogitsune is involved in Allison’s “resurrection”. Though it is unlikely that the Allison in Teen Wolf: The Movie is the real Allison, as the restoration of non-supernatural creatures was never established in canon, this may be a version of Allison who could learn to remember who she was before.

Is Allison Argent The Villain In Teen Wolf: The Movie?

The trailers for Teen Wolf: The Movie have implied that the Nogitsune is out to get revenge on Scott and his pack for defeating and trapping it at the end of Teen Wolf season 3. The Nogitsune is known as a dark trickster spirit – it feeds on chaos, strife, and pain, and has used those closest to Scott in the past to mess with his mind. Stiles Stilinski (Dylan O’Brien), Scott’s best friend, was possessed by the Nogitsune for most of Teen Wolf season 3B, and it was the Nogitsune that got Allison killed just before Scott’s pack figured out how to defeat it.

The Nogitsune may have brought Allison back in some capacity to weaken and confuse Scott’s pack. As such, it’s more likely that Allison is the real villain’s pawn, as opposed to actually being the villain herself. The Teen Wolf: The Movie trailers show that Allison has no idea who Scott and Derek are, meaning that there is very little reason for her to want to fight or antagonize them for her own personal reasons. She might be bound to the Nogitsune’s will, somehow, acting on its orders, as the Nogitsune knows that Scott and his pack will be unwilling to hurt Allison, making her the perfect weapon to wound them.

Why Doesn’t Allison Remember Scott In The Teen Wolf Movie?

Teen Wolf Scott and Allison

Allison’s inability to remember Scott, one of the most important people in her life, points to the fact that this is not the real Allison. Even Allison’s dad Chris (JR Bourne) doesn’t believe that it’s the real Allison, as evidenced by the Teen Wolf movie‘s latest trailer. Though it’s technically narratively possible that the Nogitsune, or some other supernatural threat, brought the real Allison back and also wiped all her memories, this seems unlikely, and would also hurt the plausibility of the film. The real Allison would always have a chance of remembering who she is, which would present a threat to the villain’s plans.

It’s more likely that the Allison in the Teen Wolf movie isn’t the real Allison but rather a supernatural copy of some kind – one that doesn’t necessarily hold all of Allison’s life experiences and memories, but looks and acts like her enough to throw Scott and his friends off their game completely. This kind of supernatural duplicate has been seen in the Teen Wolf world before. In Teen Wolf season 6, when the Ghost Riders came to Beacon Hills to steal people away, fake replacements were put into place to assuage the townspeople’s doubts. For instance, when Stiles was taken by the Ghost Riders, his long-dead mother Claudia replaced him in Stiles’ dad’s life.

What Allison’s Return Means For The Teen Wolf Movie

Allison’s return in Teen Wolf: The Movie changes the entire dynamic between the protagonists and the villains. Allison’s return undoubtedly gives the Nogitsune – or any other possible villain – the upper hand against Scott and his pack. Scott and his friends will do anything to save Allison and help her remember who she is, regardless of whether she is truly the real Allison resurrected or a new, supernatural version of her. That will take time and effort, something the villain can use to their advantage to sow discord and make Scott weaker as an Alpha.

Crystal Reed’s return as Allison in Teen Wolf: The Movie raises a lot of questions, but it will undoubtedly set the tone and tension for the film. At its heart, Teen Wolf has always been about the connection between Scott and his pack, and how he helps make those around him want to be better versions of themselves. Helping Allison remember who she is and what she meant to Scott and the pack as a whole is a great way of honoring that core theme. In any case, Teen Wolf: The Movie bringing back Allison Argent has certainly raised the anticipation levels for the revival.
