Jason Oppenheim Says Christine Quinn’s Exit Is Good For Selling Sunset

Jason Oppenheim opens up about Christine Quinn leaving the Oppenheim Group and admits it will ultimately be in the best interest of Selling Sunset.

Jason Oppenheim commented on the departure of Christine Quinn from Selling Sunset. Jason is the president and founder of The Oppenheim Group, a real estate brokerage specializing in luxury properties in the Los Angeles area. Selling Sunset, the brokerage’s highly successful reality TV series, featured Christine as a member of the original cast. She was the early breakout star of Selling Sunset, drawing in fans with her taste for high-end fashion, drama and a luxury lifestyle.

Following Christine’s dramatic exit from Selling Sunset, Jason commented that he felt it came at just the right time. His other employees at The Oppenheim Group had been calling for Christine’s dismissal from the brokerage and Selling Sunset for the majority of the past five seasons. Jason told Page Six, “I think people were tired of watching that dynamic continue season after season.” While Christine is certainly a captivating character, it did get exhausting watching her complete inability to get along with the Selling Sunset cast play out time and time again. In order to even film one-on-one scenes with Christine and other realtors from the brokerage, producers had to bring in a new Selling Sunset cast member willing to interact with her two seasons in a row.

Jason Oppenheim Feels Misled About Selling Sunset

Christine appeared in Selling Sunset‘s first five seasons but surprised fans when she chose not to participate in the reunion episode following Selling Sunset season 5. Her relationship with her co-workers and cast members grew increasingly fragile as the seasons went on, but it all came to a climax during Selling Sunset season 5 when Oppenheim Group realtor Emma Hernan accused Christine of trying to poach a client from her. Christine ultimately made the decision to leave Selling Sunset for good, and fans never got to see the confrontation between Christine and her boss, Jason, play out on-screen.

There has been a definite shift of focus from the first season of Selling Sunset to the latest season. What began as a show featuring high-end, luxury real-estate morphed into a deeper look at the personal lives of the cast members themselves. Jason has commented before on this shift, stating that he feels he was misled about the concept of the show. He initially hoped that filming Selling Sunset would be good publicity, helping The Oppenheim Group ultimately reach a wider audience and sell more houses. The real estate mogul went even further by elaborating that he probably would not have signed up to do Selling Sunset in the first place if he had known what it would become.

Selling Sunset‘s Christine had been working at The Oppenheim Group since she received her real estate license in 2016, with only Mary Fitzgerald, Maya Vander and Heather Rae Young preceding her at the brokerage. While there were certainly many elements at play, it doesn’t seem a far stretch to assume the introduction of Selling Sunset into their workplace had everything to do with Christine’s ultimate exit. Although Christine and Jason had their own issues on Selling Sunset, Jason had always been a proponent for her talent as a real estate agent, often defending her to the other women. Many fans will certainly miss Christine’s huge presence during Selling Sunset season 6.
