Jason Sudeikis Seemingly Confirms (Again) Ted Lasso Season 3 Is The End

[ad_1]

Jason Sudeikis makes it clear that Ted Lasso season 3 will end the story that the Apple TV+ series has been telling since the beginning.

The latest comments from Jason Sudeikis indicate that Ted Lasso really will end with season 3. Sudeikis and others involved with Apple TV+’s hit series have been reluctant to directly confirm whether season 3 will be the end. Previous comments from Sudeikis have confirmed it will be the end of the story Ted Lasso has been telling since the first episode, which has led to debate about whether the conclusion of season 3 could set up future seasons or spinoff series.

In an interview with Deadline, Sudeikis was asked whether he could return to play Ted again after Ted Lasso season 3. While his response does not explicitly answer this question, it seemingly confirms that the show will end with the upcoming season. Read Sudeikis’ latest Ted Lasso season 3 tease below:

“I mean, there’s always Cameo, right? This is the end of this story that we wanted to tell, that we were hoping to tell, that we loved to tell. The fact that folks will want more and are curious beyond more than what they don’t even know yet—that being Season 3—it’s flattering. Maybe by May 31, once all 12 episodes of the season [have been released], they’re like, ‘Man, you know what, we get it, we’re fine. We don’t need anymore, we got it.’ But until that time comes, I will appreciate the curiosity beyond what we’ve come up with so far.”

Why Sudeikis Won’t Give A Straight Answer

If season 3 is the end of the story Ted Lasso has been telling since the beginning, the question becomes why Sudeikis won’t give a straight answer about whether the series is coming to a close. The most likely answer is that while Ted Lasso season 3 ends the main story and follows through on the endgame that has been set up from the beginning, Apple TV+, Sudeikis, and everyone involved want to keep their options open.

They can finish telling the story they began while still leaving the door open for potential spinoffs in the future. Since Ted Lasso is one of Apple TV+’s most successful series, the streamer would be eager to keep the story going in another series if Sudeikis and the other creatives involved are on board to expand the narrative. Ted is far from the only adored character in the show. There is definitely an appetite for stories focused on other popular characters including Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein), Keeley Jones (Juno Temple), Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham), or Coach Beard (Brendant Hunt).

Sudeikis and Apple TV+ may also just be waiting to see what kind of reception Ted Lasso season 3 receives. Based on what Sudeikis says, it may provide an ending so fulfilling that there won’t be any need for Ted to return, or for there to be spinoff shows focused on other characters, no matter how fun they may be. Audiences could end up quite satisfied. Regardless of how fulfilling the ending is, there may still be demand for more content following the characters. Perhaps a clearer answer will begin to form when Ted Lasso season 3 premieres on March 15.
