Kreese Needs 1 Karate Kid Character To Return In Cobra Kai Season 6

For Kreese’s story in the series to get a proper ending, Cobra Kai season 6 needs to bring back one character from the first Karate Kid movie.

One character from The Karate Kid needs to return to the franchise in Cobra Kai season 6 in order for Kreese’s arc to get a proper ending. Slowly but surely, the sequel series has utilized nearly every character still relevant to Daniel and Mr. Miyagi’s story in The Karate Kid movies. But, not everyone has been brought back just yet.

The window for characters from The Karate Kid trilogy to return is closing. It’s been confirmed that season 6 will be Cobra Kai’s final chapter. With that being the case, the series will need to wrap up the stories of several of the franchise’s principal characters, one of which being Martin Kove’s Kreese. Exactly what his ending will entail remains to be seen, but the season 5 finale suggests he won’t be deviating from his current path anytime soon. His escape from prison set up a version of Kreese who has nothing left to lose and plenty of motivation to go after Daniel LaRusso, Johnny Lawrence, and Terry Silver.

Why Kreese’s Ending Needs Dutch

Chad McQueen as Dutch in The Karate Kid

Before tying up the remaining loose ends with Kreese, Cobra Kai should find a way to bring in Chad McQueen’s Dutch, the only member of Johnny’s gang yet to make a single appearance on the show. Kreese’s conversation with his therapist in the season 5 finale underscores the reason why Dutch should play a role in what comes next for Kove’s character. In the episode, Kreese reaffirmed his commitment to the principles of Cobra Kai, arguing that what he teaches is for the betterment of his students’ lives. Since nothing has been able to convince him otherwise, a reunion with Dutch may be the only thing that can finally expose the flaws in his philosophy.

In the movie, Dutch’s violent and cruel nature made him the perfect representation of Cobra Kai’s values, more so than Bobby, Tommy, or even Johnny himself. Cobra Kai season 3 stayed consistent with that by revealing that Dutch is currently serving time in a federal prison. Clearly, he never turned his life around. This detail speaks to the problems that come with following Kreese’s ways, as they ultimately led to Dutch’s life falling apart. Running into Dutch at some point in Cobra Kai season 6 and seeing firsthand the impact his ideas had on his student can serve as the wake-up call that Kreese desperately needs.

Will Dutch Appear In Cobra Kai Season 6?

Dutch in Karate Kid

Based on the direction Cobra Kai seems to be taking Kreese, Dutch should fit well into the show’s narrative. However, it’s hard to say for sure if the series can land a guest appearance from the actor. Due to his focus on his race car driving career, McQueen didn’t appear in Cobra Kai season 2’s “Take A Right” and hasn’t acted since 2001. That being said, the creators of the series have said that they intentionally didn’t reveal that Dutch was dead because they were hopeful that they could make McQueen return work eventually. So while it couldn’t happen in season 2, it’s not impossible that this obstacle will be overcome in Cobra Kai season 6.
