Lady Sif Has 1 Big Asgardian Record (But It Makes Thor’s Failures Worse)

[ad_1]

The Thor movie series has introduced a variety of characters, of which some have become fan-favorites, such as Lady Sif (Jamie Alexander), who also has one big Asgardian record, which at the same time, makes the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Lady Sif failures even worse. Thor (Chris Hemsworth) has become the first MCU hero to get four solo movies, and his latest adventure, Thor: Love & Thunder, reunited him and viewers with characters from his previous movies, such as Lady Sif.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Lady Sif is an Asgardian warrior and one of Thor’s closest friends, and she made her MCU debut in Thor, where she fought alongside Thor and the Warriors Three, and helped the God of Thunder return to Asgard. Lady Sif returned in Thor: The Dark World and wasn’t seen again until her cameo appearance in Loki, which was followed by her proper return in Thor: Love & Thunder. All this gives Lady Sif one big Asgardian record, as following the destruction of Asgard by Hela in Thor: Ragnarok, she and Thor are the only Asgardians left from the first Thor movie, but this also highlights how much the MCU has failed her so far.

How The MCU Has Failed Lady Sif

After her debut in Thor, Lady Sif returned in Thor: The Dark World, where she fought in Vanaheim alongside Thor and the Warriors Three, defended Asgard while Thor, Loki (Tom Hiddleston), and Jane Forster (Natalie Portman) escaped, and stayed to battle the Einherjar. Lady Sif was later seen in the post-credits scene of The Dark World, where she and Volstagg took the Aether to The Collector (Benicio del Toro). Sif later appeared in the TV series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which is no longer MCU canon, and after skipping Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame, she finally returned in Love & Thunder, where she warned Thor about Gorr (Christian Bale) killing various gods. The MCU explained Lady Sif’s absence by saying Odin (who was actually Loki posing as him) banished her and was later one of the millions of people who disappeared as a result of Thanos’ snap, but that hasn’t been enough.

Even though Lady Sif didn’t appear in Thor: Ragnarok due to Jamie Alexander’s scheduling conflicts, it’s still hard to believe that Sif, one of Asgard’s most loyal and fearsome warriors, wouldn’t have shown up to defend her home realm, even if she was banished. Her return in Love & Thunder wasn’t enough, as it turned out to be quite disappointing and didn’t even give her enough screen time. Sif was key in the story as she told Thor about Gorr and his murder spree, but unlike what viewers had theorized for months – that is, that Sif would join Thor, Jane, and Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) on their mission to defeat Gorr –, Sif was left aside as she was left severely wounded and lost an arm, and she didn’t appear again until the very end of Thor: Love & Thunder, where she was seen training young Asgardians.

Thor 5 Has To Properly Fix The MCU’s Lady Sif Mistakes

Thor: Love & Thunder ended with a title card confirming that this won’t be the last time viewers see Hemsworth’s Thor, so it’s possible that the God of Thunder could get a fifth solo adventure, meaning that characters like Korg, Valkyrie, and Lady Sif can return. If Thor 5 happens, it’s the best opportunity for Marvel to make up for all its Lady Sif mistakes and finally give her a bigger and proper role in the story, more so now that she has found a new home and purpose in New Asgard, and she could even become queen of New Asgard alongside Valkyrie, who is still serving as king. Thor 5 could see Lady Sif defending her new home and being more than a warrior, thus expanding her character a lot more than the MCU has done since her debut.
