While Laura Prepon reprises her famous role as Donna in That ’90 Show, she also announces that she directed several episodes in the Netflix sequel.

That ’70s Show star Laura Prepon reacts to returning as Donna in That ’90s Show and directing an episode. During the original show’s run for eight successful seasons on Fox, Prepon played one of the main characters, Donna Pinciotti, who had a romantic relationship with neighbor Eric Forman (Topher Grace). Last year, Netflix revealed That ’70s Show was getting a sequel series titled That ’90s Show. While the sequel will mostly focus on a new generation that includes Eric and Donna’s teenage daughter, That ’90s Show will also feature a majority of the original That ’70s Show cast.

Earlier today, Netflix released a new trailer for That ’90s Show, which unveiled the first look at the returning main cast members, including Grace, Prepon, Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, Tommy Chong, and Wilmer Valderrama. Now, Prepon joins her co-stars from That ’70s Show to celebrate the new trailer and reveals on Instagram that she directed several episodes of That ’90s Show. In the post, Prepon says she missed playing Donna and was thrilled to return while also excited about the new generation. Check out Prepon’s post in the space below:

Will That ‘90s Show Season 2 Happen?

While it is too soon to call if That ’90s Show will get a season 2 renewal, the producers have laid the groundwork for the show to continue. With ten episodes, That ’90s Show takes place during the summer as Leia Foreman (Callie Haverda) and her friends grapple with the changes of their teenage years. Set in 1995, That ’90s Show also stars Ashley Aufderheide as Gwen, Maxwell Acee Donovan as Nate, Reyn Doi as Ozzie, Sam Morelos as Nikki, and Mace Coronel as Jay, the son of Kelso and Jackie.

Netflix continues to drum up excitement for the return to Point Place, Wisconsin. More recently, That ’90s Show revealed that Don Stark’s Bob Pinciotti will reunite with Kitty and Red for their granddaughter’s birthday. At this time, it’s unknown how That ’90s Show will address the absence of Hyde (Danny Masterson). Masterson was unable to make an appearance in the sequel series and remains embroiled in legal controversy.

For now, Prepon has an important role both on screen and behind the scenes. Of course, it makes sense that That ’90s Show creators Bonnie Turner, Terry Turner, Lindsey Turner, and Gregg Mettler, who also worked on That ’70s Show, would want to keep the sequel series close to its roots. Setting Prepon to direct several episodes of That ’90s Show was a great opportunity to allow the actress to guide her on-screen daughter and the new generation with her valuable experiences from That ’70s Show.

That ’90s Show debuts on Netflix on January 19, 2023.
