Lauren Ridloff’s Walking Dead Spinoff Idea Would Be Perfect

Several spinoffs of The Walking Dead are coming, but Lauren Ridloff, who portrays Connie on the show, has come up with the perfect idea for another.

Several spinoffs of The Walking Dead will be continuing the story after the series finale, but Lauren Ridloff, who portrays Connie on the long-running AMC series, has revealed her idea for a perfect spinoff. The Walking Dead came to an end on November 20, 2022, closing the door on the series that detailed over a decade in the lives of a group of survivors in the zombie apocalypse. However, the franchise will be continuing with the upcoming spinoffs focused on Negan and Maggie in The Walking Dead: Dead City, Daryl Dixon in a solo France-based series, and Rick and Michonne in a series that will finally see the couple reunite.

With the potential stories of the spinoffs hot on everyone’s minds, Insider spoke to the cast of The Walking Dead season 11 about what spinoffs they would want to see in the future. While some suggested hilarious ideas like a Walking Dead musical, or a parody of Great British Bake Off, Connie actor Lauren Ridloff posed an idea that could be the perfect story to tell to expand The Walking Dead franchise and give her character more action. Ridloff suggested harking back to season 11, episode 6, “On the Inside,” which featured Connie and Virgil (Kevin Carroll) fighting off a group of feral cannibals residing inside a terrifying house.

The Feral Group Would Make The Perfect Walking Dead Spinoff

The Walking Dead season 11 left many questions unanswered, but perhaps one of the most curious mysteries was the appearance of a dangerous group of feral humans in episode 6, “On the Inside.” Connie and Virgil find themselves sheltering in a house from a herd of walkers, unknowing that the house has some truly terrifying residents, TWD’s first feral humans. “On the Inside” stood out among some divisive season 11 episodes, leaning heavily into The Walking Dead’s horror in some genuinely scary scenes. But despite the episode receiving critical acclaim, the feral people were never revisited, so there is still a huge wealth of information to uncover about them.

Speaking to Insider, Ridloff mentioned that the feral people are “more deadly than walkers,” which means that a potential spinoff featuring this group could dial the horror factor to the max. “On the Inside” ended with the feral people being killed by a herd of walkers, but this doesn’t mean that they couldn’t return in the future, since a spinoff could detail their story leading up to their debut in The Walking Dead. Audiences have only seen the story from the perspective of The Walking Dead’s heroes, so it would be very interesting to see a different story told through the eyes of a group as deadly as the ferals.

Connie Was Wasted In TWD Season 11, She Deserves Her Own Spinoff

Ridloff took a break from The Walking Dead after season 10, episode 16, “A Certain Doom,” in order to film the Marvel Studios project, Eternals, returning to the series in season 11. However, despite Connie being featured quite a lot before her hiatus, particularly in a possible growing romance with Norman Reedus’ Daryl, Connie was wasted after her return to The Walking Dead, leaving many wanting more from the character. Now that The Walking Dead is over, a spinoff would be the best way to give Connie the screen time she deserves, and a spinoff featuring the feral people would certainly create the opportunity for her to return.
