Law & Order: SVU Trailer Teases Rollins Getting Married In Last Episode

[ad_1]

NBC releases the Law & Order: SVU season 22 fall finale trailer, teasing Amanda Rollins getting married in Kelli Giddish’s final episode on the show.

A new Law & Order: SVU season 22 trailer teases Amanda Rollins getting married. After 12 seasons, Kelli Giddish is ending her tenure as a trusted member of Captain Olivia Benson’s squad. Admittedly, the actor’s exit has been mired with controversy, as it remains uncertain why exactly she is leaving the long-running police procedural. Neither NBC nor Wolf Entertainment has released an official statement regarding this matter, and in hers, Giddish didn’t reveal the reason behind her rather abrupt departure from Law & Order: SVU. Regardless of what happened behind the scenes, Rollins’ resignation is already set in motion.

Those who are involved on Law & Order: SVU have been mum about how Giddish’s exit will be handled. Previously, however, it was confirmed that Rollins’ final outing will be on episode 9, scheduled to air on Thursday, December 8. It remains title-less at this point, but a new trailer for the fall finale has been released by TV Promos and it features Rollins’ surprise revelation that she is getting married to Sonny Carisi. How SVU Can Send Off Rollins Properly

Law and Order SVU Detective Rollins

Earlier in Law & Order: SVU season 22, Giddish got shot while in the line of duty. At one point, it did seem like she wasn’t going to make it out, but that would have been a brutal way to wrap up her arc on the police procedural, which would have made all the behind-the-scenes drama worse. So, instead, NBC gradually set up her eventual exit, using her near-death experience as the catalyst. As she processes what happened to her, Rollins decided she needed a change, and as revealed on Law & Order: SVU season 22 episode 8, her next path may be teaching instead of being on the ground.

Before potentially making this shift in her career, sending Rollins off with a small but beautiful wedding is arguably the best way Law & Order: SVU can write the character out the show. For years, the police procedural developed her relationship with Carisi, and after everything they have gone through, it seems like the right time to finally take the next step in their relationship. Because of this, Rollins will continue to be tied to Benson and her team, as her future husband regularly works with the SVU as an ADA. That keeps the door open for her potential return, whether for a guest appearance or another, more permanent stint. Chris Meloni’s comeback as Elliot Stabler proves that it’s possible.

After Giddish exits Law & Order: SVU, she is confirmed for one more appearance as Rollins, as she will be back for a guest appearance on Law & Order: Organized Crime. Beyond that, it’s uncertain whether she plans on ever coming back to the Law & Order franchise. Whatever the case may be, one thing is for sure: Her absence will be felt on the series, which is something that both Mariska Hargitay and Ice-T fully know.
