Destinie Folsom came under fire from Life After Lockup fans, who blasted her unrealistic expectations for her ex-fiance, Shawn Osborne. Shawn was gearing up to walk down the aisle with his fiancee, Sara. Following Sara’s prison release, the couple wasted no time getting engaged, and conceiving their first child together. Shawn actually had been talking to Sara while he was still involved with Destinie, but after Destinie left him (and stole his car and credit cards before returning to prison), Shawn decided to move on with Sara.

Sara was patient with Shawn, despite all the secrets and lies he was caught in. Shawn came with a lot of extra baggage, including six children with his ex, Kelly. His former partner frequently called him, which Sara didn’t like. Shawn’s kids had mixed reactions about him falling in love with another former inmate. However, this time around, Shawn finally made it to his wedding day. He tried to pursue a committed relationship with his ex Destinie, but she made it clear that she only wanted his money. After playing Shawn, and ending up back behind bars, Destinie got out of jail. She then expected Shawn to provide financial support, despite how poorly she treated him.

Life After Lockup’s Shawn & Sara Are Officially Married

Life After Lockup showed Destinie’s plan to crash Shawn’s wedding. It also featured her demand for $50,000, which she felt he owed her for a car he’d promised her, and the clothes she left at his home when she ghosted him. Reddit user u/Pinky_Sweet called out Destinie’s, “delusional” expectations from a man she played like a fiddle. “She thinks she can show up, 2 hours before a wedding and demand 50k??” the Redditor wrote.

Others suspect that Destinie was only demanding the cash from Shawn to maintain a storyline on the show. Shawn had no issue spoiling Destinie during their time together. He kept money on her books while she was in prison. Later, he moved her in, and took care of her upon her release.

Life After Lockup Fans Believe Destinie Never Loved Shawn

Destinie showed early signs that she wasn’t into Shawn, and just wanted to continue living the fast life. Her actions eventually put her back in jail, and viewers thought that Destinie needed to get back on her feet on her own. “Her poor decision-making and thinking skills is probably why she did time,” one Redditor on the same thread quipped. Another wondered if Destinie’s scenes were scripted, “because who could be that delusional.” Destinie and Shawn’s relationship ended after he woke up one day and realized that she stole his car and credit cards. Also, she wouldn’t return his calls. Shawn had to contact the credit card company, and he filed a police report to get his car back.

Now, Shawn and Sara are officially married, and recently celebrated their daughter’s first birthday. The couple is currently appearing on Love After Lockup, a spin-off of the flagship show that focuses specifically on the romantic lives of ex-cons. Although Shawn and Sara tied the knot, they’ve been dealing with distrust and tension throughout Love After Lockup season 4, and it will likely only continue until the season’s climactic finale. Despite their issues, it’s clear that Shawn and Sara are still together, and Destinie’s insistence on pursuing Shawn will never yield the results she’s hoping for. Fans of Life After Lockup are hoping Destinie will be able to move on.
