Manifest Actually Has 2 Dragons, So What Makes Cal So Special?

[ad_1]

As Manifest season 4 already confirmed, Cal isn’t the only dragon in the show. So why he is considered to be so crucial to stopping the apocalypse?

Manifest already confirmed the existence of two Dragons, yet only one is considered to be integral to the future of the passengers. A prophecy discussed at the end of Manifest season 4, part 2 made it abudantly clear that any hope they have of stopping the apocalypse rests on the shoulders of Cal. However, it shouldn’t be forgotten that Cal isn’t Manifest’s only Dragon.

Played by Clem Cheung, Henry Kim bears a dragon scar as well. In fact, he was a Dragon before the plane even disappeared. It was through him that Cal acquired his own dragon scar and the black box that unlocked the answers to Manifest’s Callings mystery. Cal understood from their talk in Manifest season 4, episode 2 that both are Dragons in the show’s mythos. Toward the end of the first batch of episodes. it was discovered that Cal’s status as a Dragon makes him capable of preventing the apocalypse. But Henry’s importance wasn’t mentioned.

Why Henry Kim Can’t Stop The Apocalypse (But Cal Can)

Olive and TJ’s interpretation of the prophecy in the Manifest season 4, part 1 finale reveal why only Cal has a shot at stopping the end of the world from coming to pass. According to them, the prophecy mentions a “dragon inside of a sapphire hovering over Maat’s scales.” Olive stated that a dragon “touched by the sapphire” can “tip the scales” and save the Lifeboat. Looking at what happened between Cal and Angelina, only he matches this description. Henry never had any interaction with the Omega Sapphire, whereas Cal laid his hand on it and destroyed it in a shared Calling with Angelina.

Cal being a Dragon combined with the finale’s Omega Sapphire twist appears to be at the heart of what makes his character so important to Manifest’s overarching story. Apparently, touching the Omega Sapphire has given Cal the means to help the passengers overcome the remaining hurdles in their journey. And since it’s been destroyed, there won’t be an opportunity for Manifest’s other Dragon to go through the same process.

Cal May Have The Omega Sapphire’s Powers Now

As for why touching the Omega Sapphire could put Cal in a position to save the Lifeboat, it could be that it secretly granted Cal divine powers. That would make sense, considering that it’s already known that people like the Oracle of Delphi and Angelina could accomplish amazing feats with the Omega Sapphire. If he absorbed its energy into his body, it may be that now has all sorts of new abilities that can aid them in stopping the apocalypse in Manifest season 4, part 2. If Cal can create Callings (like Angelina could when she wielded the Omega Sapphire), Cal will have tools at his disposal that no other character on their side currently possesses in the series. If that’s the case, Cal could be indispensable going forward as they look for a way to avert the Death Date in 2024.
