Pitch Meeting Pro Tips Video Pokes Fun At How MCU Characters Are Developed

[ad_1]

Ryan George pokes fun at the MCU’s character development in a brand new series, Pro Tips, a spinoff of his popular Pitch Meeting series.

Screen Rant’s own Ryan George is poking fun at the MCU‘s character development in a brand series “Pro Tips, a spinoff of his popular Pitch Meeting series. Over the past decade, the MCU has been home to some of the most well-known on-screen heroes, as well as some of the most popular characters in all franchise filmmaking. Introduced in 2008 and 2011 respectively, Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans went on to become faces of the Infinity Saga as Iron Man and Captain America. However, considering the events of Avengers: Endgame, the MCU will likely continue into Phase 4 without its beloved characters Tony Stark and Steve Rogers.

After taking the entirety of 2020 off from theatrical releases due to the pandemic, the MCU made its first foray into TV with WandaVision in early 2021, followed up by The Falcon and the Winter Solider. Marvel Studios’ latest series to hit Disney+ finds Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as the titular mischief-maker after the events of Avengers: Endgame. While the MCU’s first two series appear to be one-offs, there is some potential for Loki season 2. After season 1 wraps in mid-July, Marvel still has three shows lined up to air this year in What If…?, Hawkeye, and Ms. Marvel.

Now, Screen Rant‘s Ryan George is back with a brand new series, Pro Tips by Pitch Meeting, which sees the hilarious host take a turn as Richard Lambo, a fictional Marvel Studios executive who is here to provide the “ultimate masterclass in developing a Marvel character.” The first episode of the new series sees George poke fun not only at the MCU’s character development but at Marvel fans themselves. Watch the first episode of Pro Tips by Pitch Meeting below:

Marvel is responsible for creating various characters at the forefront of some of the biggest blockbusters of all time, but there is certainly a lot of room for satire, as George proves here. He jokes that instead of asking what a character’s motivations are, Marvel Studios instead focuses on the character’s appearance, such as how many abs they have. George also dives into the psyche of the prototypical Marvel character, saying they must be snarky and always willing to crack a joke.

The MCU’s use of humor and lack of seriousness has drawn criticism in the past, as characters will crack jokes in the middle of a potentially fatal battle. This often creates a sense of bathos or anticlimax. That and much more regarding MCU character development is mined for comedy in George’s new series Pro Tips by Pitch Meeting. The MCU is one of the most successful and popular franchises to date, but it’s clear there is still plenty that fans can pick on.
